Devonshire Brasserie. Nice lunch there recently. I had the Lishman’s Charchuterie’ and my partner had the Sea Bass. Both exceptionally well prepared. Ordered a side of triple cooked chips, which were the best I have had this year, only thing was that the portion with the charcuterie meant that We were very full. Felt the range of beers could have been more adventurous. Nice experience.
Later called into Betty’s for a coffee. A win win day.

    Nope.. Realist.

I have to go to the Dalesway for the grand daughter or nieces.
The food is god awful, in it's entirety, no exceptions.

    ;)

    It's good, innit?

I was expecting it to be an afterthought due to the fine dining bit down the corridor but it wasn't at all.

I had some Lishmans stuff in a salad & then some venison. Top spot.

First time visit to Aldo's, Greengates earlier this week for the early bird. Quick pint in the Cracker Barrel - very good again, very nice beer and plenty in. Over to Aldo's for 2 course's for £14. Very good value, food was loads better than Ital (wasn't a fan really, food was always ok imo). Food was really nice, good service, good service time, nice wine and the Italian beer (Birra Antoniana) was extremley good. Place was packed by the time we left just after 7.

Aldo mentioned the gin bar and is just waiting for the licence and then it's a goer. Will definitely be back for the early bird.

Nice place just outside York for a grubby weekend/romantic break, this. Delete as appropriate.

Best bit: arguably the cool radio in the room.

    Middlethorpe Hall.

Just read the whole thread for the first time and I'm salivating. A plethora of ideas for places to sample haute cuisine. Never realised the forum was stacked full of bon viveurs.

I like splashing out on a meal, but it's not as if it's every day, I spend pretty much FA on my work lunches, make 'em myself and don't eat much anyway. Others bring in crap that must cost them £5 from the supermarket every day, enough for a splash out meal at Iberica each month.:)

Went to both Rajpoot & Shimla recently, the latter were right to splash out on chavvy decor, regardless of the food (usually ok) I always seem to have to good time there, like I'm on a night out. It was too busy last Saturday so after our boat trip we went in the Rajpoot, I had a prawn biriyani, it was really dry and utterly dull, I ate about half. I noticed nobody else scrammed up their food either and this is blokes hungry after being on the piss all day. Lighting too bright from overly large faux chandelier thingy and all a bit transport cafe.

Not been to Spoons for a couple of weeks, one, because I can't moderate my drinking as it's so cheap and two, they have removed the "Eggs Royale", salmon & poached egg bagel from the menu which was all I ever ate there.

The Ital was like being forced into a combined Ann Summers/Double glazing salesman/woman of the month do.

BantamGlenn mentioned taking his grandkids to the Dalesway. Always found Oakleys in Skipton a much better place for that. Get to eat half a cow and a chicken on one of their platters at the same time.

At Mackie Mayor in Manchester. Converted old market with a load of proper good food & drink spots. Casual. Cracking.

I assume you are going to see Twisted Wheel? Rick Lees used to be a member of a club I am involved in.
