We went to Buon Apps in Otley on Saturday night. Lovely table by the river. Food was good but maybe not quite up to previous visits. Even for there it was VERY busy!

Eyeing it up for Christmas dinner this year for ease . Few friends have been in the past and say it’s a great day there

This time last week we were heading up to Sedbergh for a return visit to the Black Bull. Still a proper pub, with a fantastic beer garden (more a small field), and excellent food.

A trip to nearby Booths the next day increased the spend somewhat.

Doesn’t take a lot to stand out in the culinary desert that is Scarborough … Embers is pretty decent.

Went to The Roebuck in Newall with Clifton just outside Otley for lunch today.
    Generous portions well cooked.
I had Lebanese koftas with giant couscous, feta and tzatziki to start with. Felt like a main course. For main I had salmon fillet with a crayfish, pea, spinach and lemon risotto which was very nice. It came with a side of vegetables of the day (sugar snap peas, carrots and broccoli) which was completely superfluous that I left untouched.
Other half had a superb Roebuck platter, with poached salmon, 3 types of smoked salmon, lobster, crevettes, tempura prawn, prawns, Italian antipasti (salami, mortadella, bresaola) and dips with new potatoes. I don't know how they served that lot up for £22.50. A doggy bag was required.
An elderly clientele. It is my 67th birthday and I reckon I was the youngest person eating, bar one teenager being treated to lunch by his gran.

Love a good Lebanese platter. Went to Durham a few weeks ago to visit my lad at University and theres a Lebanese restaurant just behind the big church looking building . Had a Lebanese starer and a mixed platter for mains. Came to shott of £70 quid for three of us. Bloody lovely it was.

There's a cracking Lebanese place in Leeds called Mogador. Only had food delivered to work from there but if that was anything to go by....the restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Went to Denmans in Shelf last night. Undoubtedly aspiring to be like (the excellent) Engine Social in Sowerby Bridge.

An improvement on my first visit pre-Covid; new owners I think.

The menu is vast - not keen on that - but the food was tasty enough, if a little dependent on the deep fat fryer.

The crab lasagne, surely un-deep-fryable, was a winner.

Some way off the inventiveness and slickness of Engine Social, but not a bad local option. The locals seem to love it.

Went to Sakku Samba in Bradford last night. Bradford finally had a classy restaurant.

£50 per head. £10 for cocktails, £6 for a beer. All you can eat but with table ordering and service.

    DJ, dancers and quality meat.

Would highly recommend and it’s classy. Belongs in Leeds but great for Bradford to be up market at last,

"Japanese Brazilian Tapas" - sounds a little like a confused offering?

Is the £50 an all you can eat deal? Or was that just what you averaged from the al a carte?

Just had a look. Flipping heck it's a big menu. I couldn't see where the Brazil/Japan fusion came from but just see it's part of the Estabulo group. Was the food good?
Had just the opposite yesterday - Rudy's Pizza in Headingley. Does what it says on the tin! The menu has half a dozen basic starters, PIZZAS, couple of salads. 3 white wine, 3 reds, 1 rose, a few beers, desert. It's loud, packed, cheap and decent Pizza. They were turning people away all the time we were there. Only downside I think we were the oldest people in there :(

It's over 25 years since I was last in Leeds. Do many restaurants have dancers and djs?
The fashion hasn't caught on in Edinburgh.
