I used to go there when it was Cafe Bilbao, a shame that closed as it was a bit different, more regionally focused than just another tapas joint. I park up my bike opposite La Casita and have often looked at the menu................then never bothered to go in.......................It's in an awkward spot, the negative is that passing footfall is low compared to the centre but the postive is that the footfall can often spend all it's time in that area, Boathouse/Hop eat etc
No Iberica for us, no table, no table at Tapped either, nor at Brewdog, this was about 6pm so we went for sure thing at Viva...again. 2 pizzas at £9.95 (cheap for Leeds) turned into £50 with a small salad and some beer & wine. I had Salmone pizza (Smoked salmon, mascarpone cheese, salad, mozzarella) and it was great, thin crisp base and a surprising amount of thinly sliced salmon topping it, I've had some great pizzas in Leeds lately and this was another. The salad however was garbage, "Green salad with avocado and asparagus" was actually no asparagus, a teaspoon of avocado and some green leaves, what a mark up!
The place was busy(ish) and gets full after 7, it made a relaxing change after visiting some noisy/glitzy bars. I've always found the service superb, the staff are middle aged pro's and know their stuff and what they are doing. We really enjoyed it and will be back soonish.

I've always found the drinks to be very expensive and the food to be pretty boring pub chain stuff. -
I think most Bratfud curries are a pile of cack & a bit of a con. I've been eating them for 30+ years and still couldn't tell you what a good or a bad one was! I think my good or bad impressions come from the level of cleanliness and decor as the curries taste just the same....blah..so International = bad, Shipley Shimla = good, but they serve a purpose after beer, just like a MaccyD. And as KK points out, multiple places should really be closed down such is the lack of hygiene.
I don't lump in Bhajis & Beer at Greengates with the general Bratfud curry gruel, l can actually taste various flavours there.
Ahem, Rajpoot.....has some bizarre & funny TA reviews. You can't take alcohol in & the lighting from the overly large central fitting is too harsh. I've been when the Shimla has been too busy, it's always quiet....l passed it about 9pm on Friday night & noticed it was totally empty, food is consistent IMO, blah.
Am on a post Xmas diet so am not eating out till Feb, am also on the wagon but not for long as I've discovered coffee in Leeds is more expensive than beer......Rogered Tart, trevor and millario like this. -

I've been eating curries in Bradford since 1980 and I don't think they've got worse than they used to be. In my experience the range of curries offered and the hygiene standards are way better than they were in the 80s.
I think Shimla Spice is very good and, for a cheap curry when I'm not bothered about decor, the Karachi still hits the spot every time.
Depends what you want, I suppose. Most times I want a meat and spinach karahi and two chapattis and an onion bhaji starter. What I don't want is to pay fancy restaurant prices for the same food just to finance smarter wallpaper & tablecloths and a posh khazi.marshy77, Pineapple Salesman and millario like this. -

Got given some vouchers at Christmas for Bundobust. Went last Friday. Buzzing, as expected.
I thought it was really good. We shared the veggie combo, plus an extra curry (spinach and something; I forget what). Very nice flavours. Perfect amount. The chaat was especially good.
Decent beer - Three Swords from Kirkstall Brewery - complemented the spices nicely.
Service was efficient and very friendly.

I was talking to a friend at the weekend about being taken for food by old man as a kid, anybody got any memories of Pie Toms? Used to love the pie and peas with lashing of mint sauce, quality!
