The goals in some way didn’t matter, but the performance in the second half was 100% better. It was important for the players to show some guts. For me this season Halliday has been outstanding driving the team forward. He is actually working two positions RB and midfielder. Gillead comes a close second. They are fittest on the field.

It couldnt get any worse could it ????

I seriously hope our head coach isnt conned into like a fair few are on here.

It was a 12:30pm kickoff and thats when we should have started not when the games dead.

2 games into his reign and they produce that.
    Embarrasing

Your normal scenario when a team is 4-0 at half time is for the winning team to play unimaginative, possession based stuff and sit deep. The game inevitably fading out into a 4 - 0 full time.

We shouldn't have been down like that at half time.

    We played well second half.

These statements do not contradict each other.

It could have been worse yes, they could have carried on with the way they were playing and been 10 down at full time. That would have been after GA half time team talk. They responded and played better. If they hadn't responded, then that would have been the end in my view. I agree with what you are saying. Nobody at the club should be sitting on their laurels, we are in grave danger of falling out the league.

They probably looked better because Notts County simply knew the game was done and dusted ............. sorry if i dont share the views that the 2nd half is something to be hopefull the bigger picture is that WHEN IT MATTERED it was an absolute shambles.

I seriously hope that the powers that be look to shift out that shambles of a recruitment team out.
If they are there at the club come the next window we really are in bother.

I agree. Nothing excuses how bad we were in the first half, both tactically and individually. But we did play well using the 352 system in the second half and it wasn’t just down to County taking their foot off the gas. They looked genuinely under the pump for long periods and struggling to contain our attacks. And if we’d have had last year’s Andy Cook playing, instead of this years ghost, we could have drawn or even won the game. He’d have buried those two free headers without thinking last season.
Hopefully Alexander will have learnt a lot from the contrast between the two halves, won’t ever pick Taylor to start again and will drop the outdated, outgunned 442 like a red hot brick.

Should we be worried that the last time a RB was one of the better players in a dross season, it was Paul Caddis in 18-19??

    Absolutely
Am all for looking for a chink of light in yesterday's debacle but a team 4-0 and game won at half time aren't going to bust a gut, just see it out preserve fitness avoid injury and 3 points thank you very much
The first half was as bad as I have seen in well over 50 years there must be a reason the players and I'm concentrating on the players why they are so bad despite a new manager and the impression they are giving him
I still think they are a massively disgruntled group but why there must be a reason
It's false dawn to say we played well 2nd half and we need to carry it forward to the next match our opposition won't be 4 up and it should have been more up at kick off
Serious problems on and off the pitch are obvious but what baffles me is why a professional footballer enters the pitch and plays like they couldn't care less

The 3rd goal yesterday just summed up how bad we really are :( why he simply didnt foul him is beyond me but to let him just get a free shot on goal is fooking embarrassing:(

Folk can look at the 2nd half as a chink of hope but for me the game was dead and whoever came out for thst 2nd half was bound to improve on that shower.

Honestly that squad is full if no hopers and players who simply dont care and some loon at that club thought somehow there where deemed good enough .......... and thats where you actually start sorting this mess out by getting rid of folk who think that this group are good enough when we can all see they are simply not good enough to play at this level.

Still the one positive from yesterday is that our head coach can now see what a shambles we are rather than being conned in by con merchants

We simply have to beat FGR and Doncaster.

No ifs, no buts, no maybes.

Games like Accrington and Morecambe we need to win at home, too, or at least get 4 points from the pair.

Salford are off form, so that's a big game at home.

If we get less than 10 points from the 21 available, the Alexander era will already be in doubt.

There are clearly different views about why the 2nd half performance was better than the first but the bigger question for me is why we are only a 45 minute team in most games. This isn't something new, the pattern started last season and has continued into this and it is something GA needs to get to the bottom of and sort out sharpish. We are literally only giving ourselves half a chance in every game as things stand but if we start playing for 90 minutes instead of 45, we might start to see results improve.

Saturday sees another bottom of the table 6 pointer: Grimsby Town vs Sutton United.

Another draw there would be ace.

Forest Green are at lower midtable side Walsall.
    Tranmere at home to Gillingham.
    Doncaster away at Crewe.

I wouldn't think Doncaster would win at Crewe, and while Gillingham are hit-or-miss, they should beat Tranmere (right?)
FGR-Walsall is a biggie for us, and if Grimsby win they can overtake us.

Grimsby and Sutton then play again on Tuesday, Sutton at home to Crewe and Grimsby at MK Dons.

Another post that sums up this season perfectly.

We are talking about other teams’ relegation six pointers and hoping teams at the bottom draw games so we don’t get sucked in to a relegation battle.

    It’s not even December.

Indeed but we must face the reality of the where we are right here and right now. Of course we all hope thing do take a turn for the better, and soon. But if they don't we will well and truly in the mire with pressure building game by game. As things stand relegation to NL is a distinct possibility. I don't think it will happen personally but let's not kid ourselves about our current situation

    Nail on head

An utterly depressing season, and most definitely the most disappointing one too, given the false promises & hope given by Sparks & Co
