I don't think you "get" what supporting the club means for the vast majority.

You don't seem to understand why people are more than happy to let the club keep the money. I get why those who are out of work will want the money.

I will let you into a secret shall I? It's because they love the club to pieces and want it to succeed. And if £30 x say 5,000 can help Stuart with next seasons budget-then all the better as far as I am concerned.

Where does it give the figure of how many ST holders completed the survey? I'd be very surprised if the figure was that high for a meaningless communication from the club.

 

Like you I am lucky enough to be able to work from home financially it's not made that much difference to me thankfully I will certainly be claiming my refund and donating to a local hospice who are far more needy than the club compare the work that's done there against our 11 players on the pitch (probably earning more than us) who last season really couldn't care less with zero effort

Not for the first time it feels like you've spectacularly missed the point.

 

I booked a holiday for this year which was cancelled so I could have claimed my money back. Instead I transferred it to a holiday next year because if everybody got their money back the company wouldn’t survive and the choice would be much less next year. Same applies to football club with so called loyal fans

 

Ifollow have refunded me 19% of my online season pass. Wasn't expecting that tbh.

 

I had a phone call from Mick Shackleton, they were struggling to refund me as my card details must have changed. Instead I just had it added to my account. 2 adults and 3 juniors so probably not an insignificant amount looking at what you recieved.

 

City have handled the refund issue well. Compare them to Yorkshire county Cricket Club where I am a member. Remember there has not been a single game anyone could go to this season at Yorkshire. They have sent a letter that says you should donate the entire years fees to the club, in my case £195. If you claim a refund you are kicked out of membership of the club. Yorkshire members are up in arms but the club claim they have 100% support. Imagine the reaction if Ryan Sparks announced that anyone asking for a refund could no longer be a season ticket holder.

 

Interesting comment Fordy considering that the vote as of now is 20 to 1 against. So either you have not voted or you voted against. Clearly your vote is your private business but it does look anomalous.

 

I expect the club to ensure those that want a refund can have one.

I have already decided not to accept one.

Unlike @Fordy117 this club means more to me than being a business. I have lost count the amount of money spent over the years following the club tickets, travel, food, beer etc and not once did I ever consider the wealth of the owner when deciding to attend matches or spend my money.

To me I do not see the club as a business its a large family of like minded people who want to follow the club and see some good times and success again. It's that vain hope that keeps all football fans coming back week on week.

Of course those that need the money for personal reasons is understandable.

'Actually if the BBC stopped broadcasting just said, that is it we are not transmitting anything anymore, then we would have a fair argument that there is no need for a 'licence fee'. Bit of a poor choice there.

Getting back to Bradford City. If they had pushed and pushed to have the season complete, even if it was to be behind closed doors but we could watch via a stream then I might, might, have some sympathy but they were steadfastly against continuing the season so, for me, they owe me a refund.

And... I just don't buy the argument that the season ticket doesn't state how many games it covers. There club advertised 23 home league games. Although the small print within the season ticket terms may not specifically mention 23 games there is an implicit understanding that this is what was being purchased. Any attempt to hide behind the small print will simply alienate people.

Simple choice. Offer a refund, vouchers for club shop, money off next seasons tickets, charitable donation (to whichever charity BCFC is aligned to) or allow BCFC to keep the money.

Doing this would be the honourable thing to do and would lift them up in my estimation.

 

Did Swansea put anything in for Sheffield United getting into Europe I wonder? Long shot but who knows?
