Light industrial or houses in a really affluent part of Bradford. ??? won’t bring much return , you are right
Absolutely, the “add ons” , such as food, drink, shirts, hospitality make huge profits for the club too!

It’s amazing how some just post without thinking it through.

Your first sentence suggests you are a very selfish person, saying you would be happy to increase prices and that would be a good way to reduce our home attendances, a great way to build a club limit your potential going forward, I'll ask again are you a businessman.
Your second sentence is not as easy as your suggesting and has been explained to you several times, but if we did find some football club prepared to take us all things being equal we still have to pay rent until our present deal runs out.
And thirdly we were hardly plodding along until we got bought by Rahic & Ruin we were actually in contention for promotion, so hardly plodding along in the basement.

Coventry had around 4,000 season ticket holders at the time due to protests against the ownership, so what capacity they had is totally irrelevant as they could fit their season ticket holders into the ground although that also alienated even more and they didn’t even sell out sixfields and soon moved back. Stupid idea to alienate customers if you’re a business man you should know that.

Only a few bitching about the rent a situation as many have explained is hardly the millstone round our neck some are suggesting, we may not like the fact that Gibb/pension fund made a good investment 20+ years ago but as a club we have to deal with it in the best way we can, I believe Julian & Mark buying the shop helped reduce our rent.

    Where?
Park Avenue, Eccleshill, Thackley? Too small.
Odsal? Shit hole that won’t meet EFL standards
Everywhere outside Bradford would be viable for a season at most whilst a new ground was built. It’s a non-starter.
There are two options, stay at VP or build a new stadium. FWIW I favour the latter but realistically it’s not happening. Gibb knows that, Rupp and Sparks know that.

Me too whilst we have 25000 seats to fill.
But your point was the Shay isn’t big enough. It is if we charge £300 for a season ticket and sell 8000. The ground would be full with probably a better atmosphere than at VP currently where the only noise comes from 10 fans in the corner.

We had a discussion in the pub, before Saturday’s match about various options. The potential site of Drummond Mill off Lumb Lane was raised. Perhaps marginally smaller than VP, but not much so, and with modern stadium design, perhaps a realistic option. The land is relatively flat, it is within Bradford, and I would think that given its location it is not prime residential space, so the cost may not be overly great. Over five years now since the fire.

And what do you think would be the reaction of the Pension Fund if its tenant, our club, defaulted on a water tight lease agreement which still has 7 years to run?

For clarity, I wasn’t suggesting defaulting on the lease. It was more of what do we do when the lease ends in 7 years if we are still plodding along in league 2 with the VP rent holding us back.

I never made any comment about the Shay.
If we are only going to get 8,000, then raise the price to £350 and you could move to Cougar Park and have it full to capacity.
Frankly I would rather stay in Bradford and have the attendances that we do.

OK. It's good that you've clarified that.

The lease isn't holding us back in the sense that our club is probably in a financially sustainable position and at least ticking over and probably making a small profit with extra revenues from the increased ticket prices and a lower playing budget. That should probably please the owner since there would be no reason for him to dig into his own pocket to subsidise the club. Would that position enable us to fund a promotion push? I would hope so this current year with a fair wind but I'd be the first to admit that we haven't been particularly successful in spending our playing budget wisely so far.

Depending on how we perform against our promotion target, I do expect ticket prices to be increased again for next season which should see more money coming into the club in the future.

Good theory but do you honestly think we have 5,000 people who would buy that bond at £1,000 a pop ?

Wasn't the issue that they objected to the council selling to the Rugby club and the RC then getting all the ground revenue? I'm not 100% sure but I think more of the "backing down" came from the football club because the RC couldn't give a shit if Coventry City were tenants or not.

The football club have no cards at all that would make Wasps want to back down, or need to.
