Not fitness or tactics or formation.
It definitely seems a different mindset to recent years.
While they are obviously very important he didn’t hesitate when asked the question.
Why cant we get fitness and tweak tactics and formations AND win the game.
Winning must breed a different mentality.

Why not? Has anyone come out and criticised ROD's captaincy? As far as I recall he was back as captain as soon as he was reinstated to the team.

I get that many people (strangely, given he was a single part of a failing unit) blame ROD for all our problems last year and perhaps he may not even start next year but it's a closer call with him and Hornby than many care to admit.

Let's put it this way, if POC had kept the captaincy while ROD was playing, would it have positively affected the poor form? I'd suggest not in the slightest.

 

You could be right Monks, but only as Club Captain, which is always somewhat as a figurehead for younger players to look up to and be a mentor, additionally representing the club at functions etc.

As far as playing Captain…….He shouldn’t be playing on last years form….it’s that simple.

Pre season matches are just training sessions but it’s about fitness. Of course it’s about trying to put things into practise.

The results don’t matter!! That’s a fact!

 

In the grand scheme of things, no they don't, but instilling a winning mentality does matter, and clearly from Adams answer to the question 'what is the most pleasing thing for you about today's result', he gets that.

I seem to remember there have been quite a few times when you have been on your high horse about how important it is for the players to be going out on the pitch wanting to win every game so I would have though you of all people would be pleased with this development.

I'd give the lad the armband, but as he hasn't been Adams choice as Captain at Ross County, Plymouth or Morecambe Adams may be looking for other qualities, Songo'o looks like a player who just gets on with his job and expects the same from the others on the pitch.
