Pre-Season Friendlies 23/24

The facts are there, his overreaction when things go against him, his arrogant nature, his his hissy fit when billy sharp would them up in the tunnel in the cup match. as for logic. Just study him.

He's a great manager, certainly top three of what we've had, and I'm grateful to him for that, same way i am to bfg, but he doesn't strike me as a nice bloke, in the same way bfg never did either.

Take away his achievements as a manager and he becomes marmite.

 

There are always ppl that we like and get on well with, and others less so. I try to be kind to everyone, and try to spend time with ppl I really like. I have every kind of manager during my working life who fall into the like/dislike character but I would never undermine them in public. If I disagreed and there were many times it was always done in private. He is young and head strong, but he needs to learn how the world works. Let’s hope he has learnt. Who knows what would have happened if he had said that to Fergy!

 

I think you're in a minority mate, I've seen nothing during his time as our manager or when he's returned to Valley Parade as the opposition manager to agree with you comments but your entitled to your opinion of him.

 

Parky had a slightly abrasive manner and didn’t seem comfortable being interviewed by the press. But I know several people who met with him on a number of occasions and found him to be a very genuine guy with a good sense of humour . In any case it’s not a personality contest being a football manager. One of the best managers over the years was Brian Clough as was Alex Ferguson

 

Same for any manager , you ain’t there to make friends

 

I guess Steve Evans proves you can be a bell end and still be a good football manager. I've nothing against Parky whatsoever, but from what I have seen he has developed a much bigger sense of his own importance since he left us. All irrelevant as we all have different opinions.

My business partner and I worked at the same company and had the same Regional Manager, he hates her with a passion and thinks she's a snake. I think she's the best and most honest manager I've ever had and remain friends with her.

I've met him twice and both times he was an absolute gentleman. Very obliging and happy to chat football.

 

Not sure if you are into podcasts, however the superb under the cosh podcast has interviewed at least players who have played under parkinson or being involved with him who have expressed an intense dislike for him, which the hosts have also mentioned that they have heard stories from other players too about him. Steven Davies wasnt too complimentary about his time here under parky

 

Some of us weren't exactly keen on Steven Davies either.

Interesting reading back on this thread from about page 34 after the Rochdale friendly to see what we were all thinking and how many of us predicted where we’d be.
Only @Park bantam had optimism following the underwhelming pre-season games.

Well newsflash , we get the chance to play them again next week.
I’m gonna stick my neck on the line and say we’ll get nowhere near a draw in a meaningful game.

 

Bump….here we are sitting 18th.
Where are all the happy clappers who insist that pre season games don’t matter and have no bearing at all.
I saw this scenario back in August and so it has been proven.

Talking of which, obviously didn’t get to go to the Bury one, but another poster posted somewhere on here, Bury won 10-1 yesterday and over 3000 watching. They stand 2nd in their division but are facing having to play behind closed doors pending an appeal over racist comments being made by a couple of their “fans”. Real shame but like a bunch of us on here, I’m glad to see them making a fist of it. A well spent 10 quid to watch that friendly.
