There's a lot of hope rather than confidence going into the new season for me. Like you, I hope Taylor turns out to be better than he has looked it pre season, same goes for Oduor. I hope Smith is not going to be another injury prone forward that never really gets going with us because they spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. I hope McDonald will be able to feature in more than a handful of games, and I hope the players we've yet to bring in, however many of them there turn out to be, add real quality to the squad. I wish I felt more optimistic but I just feel a bit flat at the moment.

I went yesterday. It was rather frustrating. We had a lot of the ball and put in some slick moves.

However in the last quarter, we lost momentum and rarely troubled their keeper in any meaningful way. Their goal was a great strike. Should he have got it away? That is the question.

Derbyshire didn’t offer much when he replaced Cook. We do look short of another forward if Oliver and Smith are out.

Like all on here (i hope) I want us to succeed but must admit a change in formation does worry me, First I dislike 3-5-2 as in my opinion is a flawed formation that good teams easily overcome, Secondly if we are to adopt this system we do not have the players that suit it, We will see as the season progresses but as MH cost us promotion last season with poor set ups and decisions am doubting it, More and more of the top teams and coaches here and abroad are realising that either 4-3-3 or even 4-4-2 is the system that gives players and coaches the best flexibility in games and produces results

Appreciate it’s not going to happen but how can any football fan in league 2 not want Billy Sharp. He’s a fantastic intelligent footballer and I would argue if ends up in this league will score a hatful. Would release in Oliver and Derbyshire in a heart beat for him.

You must have slept through last season when Stevenage and Carlisle got promoted with a favoured 5-3-2/3-5-2.

Forest Green, Exeter and Port Vale the year before.

Utterly baffling IMO. He may be 38, but he can still move, he is no slouch and what he may lack in pace he makes up with an intelligent football brain. One step ahead of L2 centre backs more often than not...

    Sharp scores goals.

Billy is still a free agent to my knowledge.
Oliver Out,Chapman Out pending an investigation,Smith injured not much pre season football I'd say we need someone of Billy's quality regardless of age he's a superb athlete and yes dare I say it he scores goals.

I suspect he’s still a free agent due to his financial demands. Apart from training on his own he’s missed pre season, at least 6 weeks to get up to speed. If it’s not money he would be somewhere by now and we’ve had plenty who came for the money. Not for me thanks.

No, he’s right about Bradford City being a joke of club.

It is. Biggest failure in the current football league. You can’t disagree with what he says.

As, for per season. The results do mean nothing.

Surely Sharp will end up at Wrexham, following Mullin’s injury? I am sure Wrexham can provide a chauffeur for the journey!

After sheff utd played Wrexham last season there was issues between sharp and Wrexham fans and let's not forget PP tried strangling him. He ain't going to Derby or Wrexham.

I disagree with 99% of his posts, what I don't understand is why anyone would want to put themselves through watching Bradford City if the only things he ever posts are negative, he obviously thinks pre season games do count, if not why would he post this : City can't beat non league Rochdale... go and watch a successful team if all he's bothered about is supporting a winning club maybe Manchester City is a better option.

If as you say pre season results mean nothing why bitch about them ?.

Why does someone who performs poorly always get labelled "scapegoat"?

This isn't about Taylor, we hear the word banded about every season yet it's very rare the "scapegoat" ever proves the majority wrong and improved to make a major contribution to the side.

It's almost as if we're not allowed to criticise sometimes, even when it's as obvious as the nose on the end of your face that 'player a' isn't good enough.

I'll stick my neck out and say Billy Sharp would rather retrain as a beautician than play for Parkinson. I think since he left us, Parkinson has become an arrogant tosser with an over blown sense of entitlement.

He'll end up as the most hated manager in league two if he carries on like he currently does this season. His legend has grown so much in his head that he's become a caricature of himself.

How do you come to that conclusion, he got Bolton promoted had a mix time at Sunderland both sets of fans thinking they were better than league two, then got what many managers would call a dream job at Wrexham.

Not sure how he earned that title, because his top goal score was hospitalised because of a bad call from the Manchester United keeper in a friendly

My recollection is that some City Supporters made some exceptionally nasty comments about Sharp a few years ago. On that basis as there were ‘issues’ between Sharp and City fans, then any talk of him coming to VP are surely unfounded.

Parkinson has always been a bellend tbh. We just wore rose tinted glasses when he was our manager.

I dont find any redeeming qualities in him whatsoever - apart from he is a pretty decent manager.

I’m not. I don’t care about the result. In fact I am back in Spain with a lovely wine in hand moving on to a Sex on the beach and a rum. Boiling here. I am not caring one bit about a pre season match.

The real business starts on Saturday! That’s when it all counts.
