No way our lot can can play that many intricate passes together in and around our own area. Any way we won't have to - I'm fully expecting Baldwin to dribble it out from our own 6 yard box

 

In case anyone is travelling to Altrincham using the train to Victoria and tram on Saturday, just a heads up about tram disruption.

There are no trams running from Victoria though Manchester City Centre. You will need to walk up to Piccadilly Gardens to get the tram onto Altrincham.

Unfortunately due to his extremely low body-fat composition in comparison to his high muscle density he will be prone to more injuries than the average player. The likelihood is that he will pick up an injury over the course of the season.

Essentially, he is a victim of his own exquisite physique.

Unfortunately we couldn't have that here. Half of VP would be screaming "gerrit forrad" after the first pass.

 

That's why people play out from the back.

If a team is pressing you that high, they've lost half their defensive set up once you break through the lines.

That's a style of play that really needs to be your culture if you're going to be good at it.

Our fans fell over themselves in fury to boo it after 6 months. We'd only just started trying it.

We are never going to be allowed to be that team.

 

I hope plenty of our opponents try and play that way this season

 

He played 77 league games in the 2 seasons at Harrogate before joining us so he can do it. This season we'll be able to manage his minutes with having Pointon, Walker and Gilliead who can cover for him if he is going to be 1st choice with Sarcevic so we don't have to rush him in like we did last season

 

Agree, we seem to have plenty of cover in the advanced CM department. More concerning is we have no cover for Smallwood. He’s the only player we have who plays the deeper CM role. I assume the plan is to shift McDonald and bring in a similar player who GA actually likes.

 

Gillead could play there

 

I can see Gilliead being used to cover for Smallwood as well, we would lose a bit on the passing but I think he could do just as good a job with better players either side of him who can add more going forward than what we had last season.

I think he will be used as a utility player this season to cover either wing back or any of the 3 midfield places if needed. For me he is the league 2 version of James Milner and he's a managers dream to have in the squad.

 

Stubbs could also fill in there. That said, I still hope KMcD moves on and we bring in an actual CDM as proper competition for Smallwood.
