That's what I was thinking. He was left out from playing plus the two youngsters.

Can't imagine so. GA said before hand he wanted more minutes in the others and Young had started the last friendly. There wasn't really anyone to take off for him either once Smith and Oliver came on.

Smith and Oliver are probably ones up for a move I'd say looking at the pecking order? Makes me wonder more if there were scouts from other L2 or NL teams there looking at either and we want to make a move happen.

Stubbs got caught high up the pitch.

Smith played well when he came on.
    Oliver not so much.

    Things to be pleased about.
We have a settled shape and way of playing going into the new season.
No question marks over the keeper.
We have some good young players in Kavanagh and Pointon and have plenty of options going forward.
We have a manager who isn't a nob and has experience getting promoted.

Only negatives, we need a right centre back.
If not first team then cover for Baldwin.
Stubbs isn't up to that role.
He should be cover for Byrne at best.
Sarcevic is ok but is he gonna score 10+ goals like a Walker or Pattison would??
    Not for me.
Patto should be higher up the pitch which says we need someone to come in at CDM next to Smallwood.
Oliver isn't going to be adequate cover for Cook.
A bustling centre forward is needed imo.
So 3 players more please Sharpe and Oliver, Stubbs and one more out the door maybe?
Then we are good to go and hopefully top 3.
I thought Bobby played the LWB role well, better than Richards ever could.

Hope you’re right as I really rate Young.

Me too. Just going from GAs words in the T&A, Kav was going to get the long run out tonight after Young got his hour in Austria. He'll probably get minutes on Saturday. Wouldn't worry at the minute, but if he doesn't feature on Saturday... maybe?

I've watched training over the summer.
He doesn't train well as in 100% like others do and isn't as good a finisher as Cook or even Smith.
Kavanagh is ahead of him so I don't think he will be happy on the bench.
I think he might go before the beginning of the season.

Thought as much, that seems to be the only way to resolve drainage, every year we come in a bit and make the camber steeper

Some great players don’t train well. His record at Swindon was phenomenal, there’s a really good player there.

What did GA say when he came in?
    Those who train well, play.
    Those who don't, won't.

Agreed, every time he got the ball his only objective was getting forward. Very exciting and in contrast to Tyreik who can’t beat a man and even when in acres of space just wants to turn back and slow it all down.

Halliday was very rusty and was quite poor for me. He will be back on form for the league. Oliver, Gilliead and Stubbs weakened us and the game died out at 70 minutes. The ref should have called time then.

Pointon at left wingback is a no for me. Alexander has to be very careful with that because if it goes wrong, he will be booed out the stadium for wasting our ‘star boy’ in an unsuited position

Only watched the second half but thought we did well against Sunderland second string even if we did let them score. Wish I had checked the kick off time and watched a bit more of it

Nothing to read in friendlies but a few reflections firstly their number14 we won’t see a better player than him all season. For us my first impressions of Byrne was very good Pattison looks very fit and I like the way he carries the ball and I really hope Smith isn’t sold he is underrated by many. Great to see some live football again

Trying to shoehorn him in he is unlikely to be starting with the midfield we have at the moment

Yeah, I had the same impression. Think it was just about getting minutes and the position didn't matter so much

TBF, Pointon did the same in the second half. He also tried to cross into the box and nearly scored from his poor cross. Does he not get a honourable mention too??
