It is a shame Blackpool didn't happen two months sooner as it seems that was the catalyst that was required.

 

A really positive night tonight with 4 good home performances it looks like we have turned the corner at home. Great atmosphere reminded me of the Parkys days.
And for people who say we signed nobody in January what a brilliant performance fro Callum Guy this lads got a great attitude and a great future
The players showed tonight they are not half as bad as some of the performances since Christmas suggest.

 

Bloody hell every time we play a team they are poor or average their recent record suggests otherwise it was us that were good tonight we didn’t let them play

 

From what I saw it took a slight deflection. That took it away from Doyle.

 

Callum Guy put in another impressive shift last night.
Not sure if his contract runs out at Derby this summer but we could sign a lot worse.
Callums enthusiasm and attitude is spot on.

 

Very highly thought of at Derby so cant see him going anywhere just yet

 

True grit and determination resulted in a brilliant display. My only concern now is that the owners will start to think we can carry on as we are without splashing the cash. Only downside on the night was I had a few quid on us to win 2-1.

 

We we're told Stuart said he needed experianced players yet as you rightly say the best of the January signings is a 21 year old kid.
It would be nice to think we could sign Callum on a season long loan, and McGowan shows the sort of form he did before his injury, but a long way to go Grayson signing a longer contract being the start.

 

Makes you wonder if you are watching the same bunch of players since January can't get my head round it after the last two matches Last nights win bonuses should go to the fans who went to Blackpool What has happened to make them play with true grit and determination again

Great to see such a performance against a promotion chasing team.

Frustratingly it only adds to the disappointment of 3 wasted months.

 

Doyle should have saved theirs? What, even after Moaning Bassa Pitman’s deflected shot? Had it not taken the deflection, Doyle would have saved it

 

Playing players in positions they are best accustomed to is a start, none of this Chicksen on the left side of midfield or McMahon in the centre of midfield. Back to basics with a 4-4-2, although not pretty at times, gives balance to the side and players seem to know their roles.

 

Did anyone say we hadn’t signed anyone decent in January? Guy is a great player and was just what we needed with Reeves’ injury and Vincelot out of form.

The issue, as I saw it was that the rest of the signings came too late and we never signed the forward we needed to support Wyke

 

That was the most enjoyable game of the season for me personally last night. Tremendous spirit from every player, epitomised by the excellent Callum Guy. McMahon played a blinder for the 3rd goal, messing about, taking his time, winding Pompey up, and then catching their keeper unaware with his shot.
Pompey looked decent on the ball, but we defended as well as we have for a long time, especially NKP and the excellent Warnock
Masterstroke by Grayson bringing on Lund for Bruenker, Lund linking up midfield and Wyke very well I thought, and he took his goal very well.
Playoffs still look beyond us, but a good finish to the season and get Grayson to commit, and we can still go into the summer with a bit of optimism perhaps for another go next season
