Although that was the comments fed to us by Ryan i'ts not the way Adams manages, if he finds a gem and plays him and the kid and attracts attention and gets sold on then that’s greats for both parties but as you allud to Adams aim is to get us promoted and he will not play kids to pacify Ryan, and too bloody right.

 

My big concern is that when Mr Rupp realises all is not well

I don't think I suggest that Steve, in fact I suggested the opposite as I posted there is nothing between the two players vying for the shirt, IMO Threlkeld is hardly the first name on the team sheet.

No he hasn’t Staunton had on match after injury after impressing last season FCD did well and was called up and hasn’t come back and as I say scales can’t be worse that Robinson. I am not calling for players to be picked on anything but merit just give them a fair chance

 

Fair play he did play a strong side against Lincoln, but most Cousin-Dawson, Sikora, Staunton, Sutton, Scales, had their chance to show Adams what they could do against United's U21 which they failed to do.
I'm far from happy with the situation at present but in all honesty I don't see throwing kids in at the deep end is the solution.

 

Trouble with Staunton is I’ve only seen him do well in a back 3, maybe next to Canavan he’d shine I don’t know but I wouldn’t have much confidence with him next to Paudie tbh could imagine some very poor positioning for near 90 minutes. The times I’ve seen Staunton in a back 4(mainly cups) he’s looked poor imo. Stuart and T & S latter in their spell gave some of the kids a fair chance, we ended 15th. Not blaming them but don’t see which of them contributes as a key first teamer to a promotion aiming team. Under Adams we aren’t going to go with youth a couple of seasons and tread water until they come of age, his job is on the line not ours. That said I’m not sure how Evans keeps starting and probably Gilliead as well, other than that with injuries I don’t think there’s a lot we can change atm.

 

Adams insisting that he has no problem with Rupp and Sparks, and his post-match wasn't aimed at them.

So, begs the question what did he mean, or is he back tracking now the dust has settled?.

Adams said he knew what the wage budget would be, he has spent it, and would never ask for more.

 

We seem to be getting a different agenda every day with Parkers journalism.

 

Hopefully a compromise has been reached behind the scenes. Adams comes out and says his remarks weren't aimed at Rupp or Sparks and he feels they are backing him well, and they agree to give him a decent budget in January. If that doesn't then transpire, well, the brown stuff could really hit the fan.

It stretches back further than Turnbull. We were relegated from League One with (i believe) the 3rd largest budget in the league. Certainly our biggest budget for years.

I say 'budget'. 'Spend' would be a better word, as it clearly wasn't agreed as the budget!!!

 

Remember when we put all our eggs in one basket that January by paying ridiculous money to extend Payne's loan? As has been said, money/budget is not the issue per se, it is how it is being spent and over the last few years, the club has shown that it is not very good at it.

 

The lack of loan market usage is an issue for me also. higher clubs usually subside wages but we couldn’t find a better potential loanee forward and number 10 as an alternative to the the Robinson spend?
Is DA opposed to loan signings in his history? Feels a little cut your nose off stubbornness like Stuart refusing to sign anyone on a free

Its a combination of both. There's an obvious correlation between budgets and where teams tend to finish, but its not a hard and fast rule. Capability to spend money wisely is also a key factor.

 

Yes a simple comment like "yes he can change a game" when the interviewer said he though Crankshaw did well when he came on.
