Which begs the question again - where did Sparks think the money for a promotion push was coming from? In times gone by, from my understanding, the board and manager take a look at the league at the beginning of the season, and identify if its a weak league or not. If it is, and they feel we've got a real chance of going up this year, they identify the players we need to make that happen, and allocate the budget accordingly. In otherwords, make a real push for it to happen. Did that conversation happen with our board and the manager. Certainly we've been told that DA was involved in indentifying targets, even before he joined the club. So I presume some sort of action plan was in place and agreed. And Ryan went public saying that this is going to be our season. So what went wrong? Now we've scraped the barrel during the last window, been told there's no money to sign out of contract players, and biting non leagues hands off when they come in with an offer, leaving our squad dangerously thin on the ground. And all this without "going big" in the summer. I'm struggling to understand that if this season was indeed going to be "our season", how we were going to achieve it when there obviously wasn't any money available.

 

If there is a failure to gain promotion this season, Sparks has no chance of talking about promotion to sell season tickets or sponsorship and that will only hurt the club and by extension us poor bastards who were unlucky enough to be made Bradford City fans.

 

Covid isn't a barrier to us achieving promotion. In fact, I'd argue that we're far better placed to weather the impacts that just about every other club in this league.

Only last week in the T and A it said they were planning for January already. All seems to be going downhill rather quickly.

 

I’d imagine this is why we could only attract a 32 year Port Vale striker who had been sent to play with their U23s. His wages here must be minimal. I’d rather have Oteh.
We’re skint and Rupp has clearly decided he won’t be putting any more more money in.
Unless we manage to shift some deadwood in Jan then I don’t see any major business happening.

 

The problem I see is strength in depth. We don’t seem to have any.

Get the missing players back and we are still a fairly decent L2 side and I say that having seen some decent football at home, using injuries can come across as an excuse but Canavan and Vernam were huge misses at the weekend, and Angol has certainly been missed given he was a regular starter. I can see how heads have gone down it’s been a tough run of results.

Rupp is not a charity. He is a successful businessman, and knows where to take risks with his money.

As for the rookie Sparks, his words and promises look very empty right now.

The second is the statement i would put put out to avoid being held to ransom by players , who for whatever reason don't have a club in October.
We have had 4 home matches with approx 9-10,000 pay on the day fans @ £15 each on average approx £140,000+ in to the coffers.
I do not buy this we are skint bollocks.
The club have already said we get agents and players with inflated values of their worth, because of who we are.

Ryan needs to face the fans different stuff to what was being feed to us fans during the closed season we're well into our January business with regards targets etc.

The players we have aren't good enough to get us out of this league. The squad we have is not good enough to compete for places. Even the players who are out injured, aren't good enough to start (Robinson, Lavery).

I'm still scratching my head wondering what DA was promised at his interview to make him believe this job was for him. In a nutshell, he was spun a load of yarn. We're saying he's a strong manager and won't walk away, but if he does have a set a values, he sure as hell won't like the fact he was lied to. I absolutely wouldn't blame him if he told Sparks and Rupp where to stick it.

 

Where are the we are lucky to have a club merchants who cheer failure?

 

Don’t really know what people want from Sparks, if he speaks he’s criticised, if he does a Julian Rhodes and never speaks that would surely be worse. He can’t increase the budget, he’s an employee of the club and he has never shied away from problems which I am sure there are many, just like other clubs. It seems he can’t win no matter what he does.
