I've always respected your previous posts on several subjects but I can't get away from the fact that this gesture has been proven to be decisive, which helps no one...

 

Tony, I'm confused. You say this gesture has been proven to be decisive, which helps no one. Surely if it's decisive, it's successful and helping alot of folks.

 

Who is making it decisive? not the people asking for equality and the right not to be persecuted surely?

I know your old and that but surely your house has some technology in it called a mirror. Take a look in it.

Yep, we should go back to the stand up to racism thing we did last year... whilst some people genuinely believe taking the knee is a Marxist gesture, despite everyone doing so telling them till they're blue in the face it's not, there's also a lot of people for whom it's a very convenient cover to allow them to boo black players for the first time in decades. Take away any possibility of people being able to claim it's anything other than an anti-racism thing, whether they're doing it genuinely or disingenuously, and it will stop because at heart racists are cowards and they won't do it without the cover of plausible deniability, this knee thing is giving them a field day

 

Personally I think the booing is racist. They are booing because they disagree vocally with Taking The Knee and are happy to show it. Essentially booing an action aimed at highlighting racism. I don't agree with it so I will just not react to it. That's the non racist way to react. Booing is totally wrong, it's a free world and if they want to continue it forever they have the right to do so, irrespective of who wants it or not.

What is the difference between taking the knee and that stupid gentle walk out, line up and hand shakes before a match ? Give me players running out side by side and giving each other some (non racial) abuse every time. I don't boo at that either but like the knee it has run its course.

To be honest that's a weird take on things in my personal view and is desperately trying to find a plausible excuse for booing taking the knee which doesnt exist. Comparing it to booing diving or a bad decision is not the same. Next time your partner moans about her sexist boss at work start booing her and then compare it to booing a ref. Good luck with that

 

Its unlikeky to make a difference quickly but if that racist person was to turn around and see the whole crowd glaring at them as opposed to a few people laughing and the rest looking the other way, change will happen. Noone likes being a pariah

Exactly the same as people booing it. Whilst some of those doing it are racist scum everyone booing it will be tarred with the same brush no matter how many times they say they aren’t racist
