Ricc, I’m not going to argue with you but you are so wrong. He was all set to sign for Blackburn until they pulled out at the last minute.

Had we accepted the offer from Scunny, he would have spoken to them and we all know how persuasive they can be with their contract offers (I’ll give you a clue, think Rory McArdle)...!

Fair enough, but I’m sticking to my guns on this. I believe my source on this one.

I am sure Scunthorpe expressed an interest but their offer was not enough. And they never came back with more. I am sure if it had been up to the player he would have gone for a long contract

I was told he threw his dummy out of the pram after we rejected an offer from Scunthorpe. That indicates to me that he wanted to leave.

Exactly my point. They wanted him but their offer did not match our valuation. Now he is a free agent, what is stopping them or any other club going back in for him?

I suppose the fact that Alexander is no longer Scunny boss may mean they will no longer be interested, but I’m sure there will still be interest. And all they have to do is offer him a similar deal that took Rory 5mins, last summer, for him to sign elsewhere.

So why didn't he sign his deal with us straight away rather than trying elsewhere, Blackburn?

Indeed. It gets even more obviously troubling if that list is rearranged by position (just including those who've played a first-team match this season):

    Keeper: ?
Fullbacks: Chicksen / Hanson / Staunton (also CH)
    Centre-halves: McGowan / Kilgallon / Vincelot (also M) / Knight-Percival / Laird
Midfielders: Reeves / Devine / Robinson / Maltby
    Forwards: Wyke / Poleon / Jones / Bruenker / Patrick / McCartan

Is Sykes-Kenworthy signed for next season?

There's some stuff to work with there, but overall I fear that that squad is more likely to trouble the relegation end of the table than the promotion end. Yet another confirmation that this summer's recruitment will have to be right.

Apparently Doyle wants to stay too. Kids settled etc.

The question is will the new manager want either of them

I don't think the keeper and/or left back will be at the top of his list of players to replace Storck. He's given the gob shite, sorry, Mcmahon the captains armband which tells me he believes he can do a job for him.

I’m on about the new manager as I don’t think it will be Grayson

I'd keep Doyle. Won't get much better at this level. Also seems to be a well liked member of the dressing room

Ahh... Right. In that case I would say yes to Doyle at this level but would need to take a long hard look at Mcmahon before making any decision
