I respect your opinion and of course we have to try and be competitive. But if we are going to start a different way we have to begin somewhere. If kids and parents see that we are a club where they can come and make progress through the ranks they will want to come.
Let’s face it putting money in doesn’t always work look at tomorrow’s opponents and Bury for good examples.
If we were lucky enough to have a super rich fan chairman who wasn’t afraid to lose money then I may have a different opinion.

Boom and bust, we are talking Bradford City here, the bust far outweighs the boom certainly during our time of supporting the club.

I think he’s reached his level at this club. Too inconsistent for me but nice enough lad. Listening to radio Leeds it appears no contract discussions have taken place which is understandable.

Yes of course throwing money around is not alway successful. This is not just about money it is about the wage structure, it’s about having the right person in charge of player selection. It is risky buying young players to fill in the squad, they need to be surplace and brought in gradually.

During the times we watched them our failings were because of fiance, that seems to be the only constant at Valley Parade, but if the way these guys want to run it was as successful as some are making out the only clubs who use this model would be successful.
Is it used by most German clubs because I don't see many challenging Bayern Munich, the vast majority of successful sides are successful because of their backers prepared to under write the club, not because they use the German model.

I reckon that at least 95% of football clubs within their means or pay the price. As I said if we have a filthy rich fan backer who has money to lose introduce him

@Park bantam@Park bantam you can’t realistically expect us to improve next season by reducing the spend on the first team squad. That’s madness.
Without increasing the spend on the first team squad we are staring at relegation.

I get that. My point was that most of those shouldn’t be considered as Squad members as they were signed for the Dev Squad or Youth team. Where do we draw the line? Should we also include all u11 players up until u18 too?

But your above is nothing to do with their model, Edin's idea is that he gets involved with football matters, such as the transfer dealing, I do understand that the final decision has always been with the owner past and present, but does the owner/co-chairman need to get involved in the selection of a center forward or central defender or full back, I'd suggest the likes of Stan Kroenke at Arsenal, Dean Hoyle at Town, John W. Henry at Liverpool, Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Manchester City don't get involved with transfer targets/dealings apart from as I say writing the cheques.

I have no doubt the club will offer him a new deal, but I’m equally sure that McMahon will turn it down and sign elsewhere.

So give us an idea of which clubs go down the youth investment path instead and what success have they got. Other than Crewe doing ok for a few years, no club have sustained a position of strength on the back of a solid youth team only

Is that the same ‘patience’ that you attribute to Law, who would rather keep possession and be patient, rather than trying to thread a ball through the eye of a needle and cough up possession?

So you don’t want us to play with patience, BUT you want fans to be patient as we adopt a philosophy that may or may not succeed???

Did we spend £300k on the Dev Squad? I can only think of the nominal fee paid for Hanson and maybe a similar amount on Brunkner.

And if we are including their wages, I expect the total amount will be well over £500k

500k in transfer fees and 300k on the development squad. If we had used the money wisely and put the 800k or so towards the wage budget we could have easily built a promotion winning squad. instead, here we are. A squad lacking in quality, season tickets dropping by a third and major investment needed just to finish midtable. I think our owners will look back at this season and regret overcomplicating things with their model. All the tools were there to succeed and they've blown it.

I like Tim and he comes across as a nice guy. But I thought he looked a little uncomfortable every time he was asked about his future. I think he had the demeanour of a player who knows he isn't going to be here next year, either because he has been told he won' be offered a new contract or because he wants away. He mentions wanting to stay in English football but never mentions staying at City. Shame really

I agree with you but I also think we as fans now need to be realistic about where we are. We are not going to be signing the likes of Bradley Dack. Realistically, if Callum Guy became available I don't think we could afford him either.
If people think we can afford better squad players than Law and Dieng then they need to wake up to our current situation.
