It doesn't make it any less true though.

We even have sections of the fan base that detest the most successful chairman of our entire existence because he gambled with the future.

They'd much rather consistently finish 16th in league two every year just so they've got a hobby that gets them out of the house for a couple of hours once or twice a week.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, each to their own but it's not for me and I suspect it's not for the majority of the newer fan base either.

I don't genuinely believe that he ever did apart from the loans after the Rahic departure and even then we had incomings from transfers that no doubt paid these debts back handsomely.

I believe there's been suggestions of an annual management fee on here and whilst I've no idea if it's true, around 250,000 to 300,000 is the figure in my head?

I think @Dennis@Dennis highlighted something after the accounts were published but I could be mid remembering or even getting it completely wrong.

Agree totally. Big Geoff delivered us a fantastic ground and premier league footy. Put us well on the map for all the right reasons. What followed was shite but every decision in business is a gamble at the end of the day. As the old saying goes, you have to speculate to accumulate. How very true that is

I was watching the Fulham Chelsea game last night, and saw that as soon as they conceded the first goal, they were absolutely all over the place, resulting in a second goal a minute later. Reminded me of us, because they were still fecking about with it in their own box, despite Chelsea having their tails up and pressing them very hard, and confidence shot to bits.

You may be right Dave , I seem to recall a figure of £300k as a one off payment. What that was for I have no idea. It could be a “ Management Fee” , thereagain it could be a loan repayment?

That’s very true Steve and something nobody would knock. Sadly that was a massive causation to what followed.

I loved the Richmond days for purely selfish reasons but let’s not canonise him. He lost very little personally however because of his “gamble” others lost a lot more some losing their business, livelihoods. And even a sporting club.
I want investment coming from the top not the club being run irresponsibly

It’s been said many times but those few years under GR were some of the best times I’ve had supporting city and I suspect that goes for a lot of the older fan base as well.
Admittedly it was built on sand but that will never deter from the buzz that surrounded the club.

There was none of the current malaise that seems to hang over the club for the last few years.

Yes,he gambled with other people’s money but I wouldn’t swap those feelings you had going to Anfield,Highbury,Old Trafford on equal terms for anything.

I don't believe that to be the case for one minute, I wouldn't class supporting Bradford City for over 65 years spending thousands of pounds home and away as being a hobby to get me out of the house for a couple of hours :snigger:, in my case and even as yourself with maybe 40+ years I'd suggest watching our football club comers right up on our priority list of things to do, or why would you as myself be so passionate with regards Bradford City.
Nor do I believe the second highlighted comment to be the case, unless of course you have any factual evidence to support it, as I posted opinions with little prof to back it up.
And tell me why fans shouldn't have a different opinion of as you suggest "the most successful chairman of our entire existence because he gambled with the future" without doubt it was something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime, then again neither were the two administrations the first being mostly Geoffrey Richmonds fault although the Rhodes have to be comparable too, after all us fans had been through at St Georges Hall and the rallying cry from Stafford and Jack that Sunday morning when we nearly didn't exist without financial commitments from Bradford City. fans.

With little or no evidence to back that comment up, apart from fellow posters contributions on here.

It's just my opinion, I've stated that several times as I have that fans, like yourself, are also entitled to yours. I've no problem with that.

That’s why I clearly stated some of our fan base.
How can you put “little or no evidence” and then put “apart from fellow posters”
The fellow posters are my evidence.
Admittedly,it may be a very small sample, but it’s still evidence.
It got a few “likes” so some posters agree.

It’s clear you don’t agree with the original post I replied to but as you constantly state (rightly so) we all have opinions.

I know it’s semantics but it seemed to be a bit of a dig at my post that contradicted itself.

So we agree the figure is negligible, but as I originally posted, Is it wrong to be happy we still have a club to follow, I could never envisage the alternative.

I seem to remember these figures too. Whatever the payment is called, any neutral investor will want (if not require), as a minimum, several points above bank interest rate return on their investment annually. Otherwise may as well invest elsewhere or have it in a bank given the risks.

For those not happy with the amount, I suppose it could be argued that more could be taken.

    Negligible-absolutely
    Non-existent-Not a chance.

Do certain opinions not count if only a few people have them?

It wasn’t a dig but lots of stuff on the forum is based on little or no evidence but it’s not questioned.
There’s 100’s of pages on transfers but every transfer rumour is based on negligible evidence because as much as some claim to be ITK,nobody has any more idea about what players earn or want to come here than you or I.

All the supposed info about what happens behind the scenes at the club is based on little or no evidence because nobody on this forum has any more idea than the man in the moon about what Rupp,Sparks or Hughes do or say to each other on a daily basis.

If football forums were only based on opinions that the majority of posters held then they would be a lot duller place.

So going by this you would be happy if went for it and failed and had no club to support. Because that’s the logical conclusion to your post.

Why am I not surprised that you are the only poster who could possibly come to that conclusion from my post.
    Absolutely embarrassing.
