It's so frustrating because we're one of about 5 clubs who refuse to appoint a DoF or similar, and the majority are midtable fodder.

We point to other teams who have a DoF or similar and aren't working out, then pretend it's okay.

    IT'S NOT OKAY.

We lack the knowledge and expertise. I could care less how it's working at X or y club, we specifically have a total lack of knowledge and expertise. We're in a small minority of pigheaded clubs that just want to pretend everything will magically be okay because without a navigator, a good driver should be sufficient.

No no no no no no no.

Will a Director of Football automatically get us promoted? No. You don't just win a race because you know where you're going and what you're doing. But you've got a much better chance to get things right if everyone is pulling in the same direction with expert oversight for the long haul.

Some will make the same old boring excuses to avoid change.

Those people are now allowing Rupp and Sparks to hold this club back with impunity, and it has to stop.

I'd love to work in a job where stuff that goes wrong is no one's fault. Like at Westminster.

I don’t think the article is saying that, it is highlighting what has gone wrong.

Rupp has to take some responsibility for this. There’s no getting away from it. He is the leader of the club. The guy at the top. He might not set the culture that exists day-in-day-out within the club, but he oversees how it is built. And adding to the supporter frustration is how distant he appears to be. Communications with supporters are rare. A recent Instagram post about silencing the doubters was misguided. Predictably, his comments after the Newport success were pocketed by his detractors and used against him the week after.

The question we keep returning to is whether Bradford City can ever succeed with Rupp at the helm. And the evidence gathered so far makes it difficult to make a positive case. So yeah, those who are advocating change are not being unreasonable. The club surely cannot go on forever like this.

Yep. Rupp doesn't have to be a villain, or even do anything more on a day to day basis.

But he has to make sure there are enough top people running the club, and right now, were running more like a grocery store with a good marketing team than a sports club with top field-specific execs behind the scenes.

Yes, it is a good article on balance. The one thing which doesn't get a mention is that there may not be symmetry between what the fans want and what Rupp wants. I'm sure that if the right purchaser came along, Rupp would sell with the major proviso that the price offered had to meet his own expectations. Beyond that and for the immediate future, he expects the club to be run sustainably which really means there is no call on Rupp to make any financial contribution to the club. If that approach enables the club to gain promotion, that's an added bonus but promotion doesn't appear to be a driving force for Rupp. That's his prerogative as the owner.

His stance however doesn't appear to accord with the expectations of most fans. We all want, no, expect promotion for our club and soon. We've waited long enough and frustration continues to grow. Regrettably, promotion, certainly into the Championship, may well require additional funds being injected into the club and the playing budget over and above the 'sustainability' level. That difference of expectations between the fans and the owner is the conundrum we all have to cope with. I'd like some understanding or insight into how Sparks handles this.

I like WOAP, their articles and podcasts are a very good read/listen with usually most topics covered around the club at the time. However, i do totally see where some people come from when they say WOAP sits on the fence a little too often and this article does have those elements to it.

For me, the biggest part they fail to address is what @Dennis@Dennis posted above, the connection between fans and ownership/structure running the club is so opposite at the minute. I think you can feel it in your seat that something feels off about the club, fans don't have that engagement or 'buy-in' at all this season and it problem flows onto the pitch. Rupp wants success without the spend, fans want both. It's almost like we are in a scenario with Hughes and likely the manager after him, that if the club is successful it's in spite of the structure/model that we run the club by, rather than because of it.

I don't think there is much wrong with the owner, leave him be.

The manager on the other hand, he needs to go ASAP.

Honestly, I think it wouldn't go amiss for Stefan Rupp to get on the pitch, Delia Smith style, and show he cares.

He cares about his investment and that's about it. Who can blame him? Rahic had his pants down and Rupp is left "holding the baby" The article perfectly summarises where he is at and why. What we need is someone at the helm who cares more about the club than the value of their investment.

That pot is a tremendously small one-almost miniscule.

That's what is worrying me right now. A significant drop in ST sales next season, less to spend on players and we could easily be following Oldham, Scunthorpe etc out of the EFL and into oblivion.

People keep banging on about getting a new owner -and I don't disagree- but where are they? @Fordy117@Fordy117 any ideas?

Well considering we owe nothing barring shite players it’s highly unlikely many will be interested.

Those that are and they have been a few have been put of the unrealistic asking price Rupp wants.

    It’s that simple.

It is. Your continued calling for a new owner is stunted by your own response.

There ain't anyone. There hasn't been in the 40 odd years i've watched the club bar BFG. Why would anyone want to buy anything associated with the city of Bradford, its a right dump.

That bit made me smile we'll never know what effect it would have had as it didn't go ahead, but one thing for sure SOMEONE got in touch with @JonButterfield@JonButterfield and pleaded for it not to happen, it may not have had any effect in the UK we see fans protesting season on season with regards their owners but I bet the German press would have had a field day and IMO that was the reason for the phone call or PM to Jon.
