Maybe Leeds have another decent CB we can borrow for the season

Not sure to make of Lincoln fans reaction.

They already have 5 centrebacks and a couple indicate he’s coming in as back up.

Main response, they have been reading this forum…..Lack of passing ability, apparantly they won’t pass out from the back so he should be ok???.

I guess he didn’t want to ‘own the moment’

Good luck to him, he's put a shift in over the last 3.5 years and leaves without owing us anything. I've got to say that given his "in demand" status and the types of clubs who were rumoured to be after him I'm surprised he hasn't ended up a little higher up L1 but hey, I don't know anything about the Imps' setup so maybe I'm doing them a disservice.

That said, I think it's relatively easy to find decent L2 centre backs and I think that we will probably be OK.

Well if he is then it’s not every ambitious , Watt if coached well can get into the championship quite easily.

He won’t get a championship move now though so the next step up for him is a league 1 club.

All good points well made. Wish POC the best for the rest of his career and hope he improves in a higher division. For us he was the veritable 'curate's egg' - sometimes good, sometimes bad, sometimes indifferent. For the style of play MH is looking towards, we definitely needed someone more mobile and quicker of thought.

I agree Paudie is replaceable, but surprised many are dismissive of his qualities when he's been voted Player of the Season 2 years running and Players' Player of the Year. Having been tracked by some of the bigger fish in higher divisions, it would suggest he's got plenty of attributes which teams need/desire.

For me he's a decent and committed defender with leadership qualities and can be a threat at set pieces. Served us well and I would have been happy for him to stay. Best of luck to the lad in League 1.

They've both got time on their side so no need to rush a move to the championship so a move to someone like Lincoln would make sense.
This is from O'Connor's interview on the Lincoln website which is nice to see that he's looking long term at his career not just the big move now.
"I wanted to pick somewhere I could develop and have the opportunity to play another 40 plus games a season, as I have over the past few years.

"My next career move needed to be right football-wise. I wanted to step up to League One and it’s clear there is a structure in place here to allow me to kick on.

It’s a pity to lose our most consistent player he had the attributes we are want in that position however we have signed a decent player in Platt and I am sure there will be at least one more. Best of Luck to him he has earned his own promotion

I don’t think many would disagree, however is he replaceable? It’s a yes from me, even though he’s had a decent time since MH appeared…if only he could pass a ball to a teammate. Therein lies my problem with him…However good luck to him.. It’s a chance Lincoln and him have to take.

He's a decent L2 centre half, who's never lacked for commitment. But he's poor on the ball and his positional sense means he can be a liability. He's also rash at times and has several red cards to his name here.

Hope he does well, but not too fussed he's gone. Yes he's won POTY a couple of times, but that says everything about the quality of our side over the last 3 years, more so than it says anything about him being ready for a step up.

I like Paudie committed, aggressive defender who gets stuck in and seemed to be one of the few who has consistently given 100% despite all the rubbish of the last few seasons. He has his limitations on the ball for sure and needs to improve on that to really step up. Of the three out of contract I would say he is the least difficult to replace (not that I wanted us to). Watt on the other hand would be the most difficult to replace for me because he is so consistent. Vernham is a good player and capable of something special but I think he can also be replaced. I suspect if he doesn't get a manager that can get him going he'll drift in and out of any team at what ever level he's at.

    Good luck to Paudie though

When the fixtures come out I hope there's a Lincoln game we identify and travel down en masse and pay tribute.

It might help tempt him back further down the line.

it was hardly difficult to pick up that kind of award considering how shite the majority of players are

It's quite a sad endictment of where we are that anyone actually sees Paudie as a loss. We can do better.

Who said he’s had plenty of offers, Lincoln perhaps? All clubs use spin!
