Only in election time can you offset a number of wrongs, with a number of wrongs from someone else.

Once again we have the main parties not showing why we should vote for them, but why we shouldn't vote for their opponents.

This is the shitshow we have had for years.

Great watching him squirm ,the man who took the holier than thou stance on party gate and now tying himself into knots on the issue.

If you can't tell the difference between having a single beer in your lunchtime sandwich break during a full day's campaigning and shipping in loads of wine, champagne, party food etc then I can't help you.

Tbh I'm quite happy as someone who always opposed the shitshow of rules as making little sense (rule of 6, people in Ilkley allowed people in gardens but people in Keighley not, you can't see your mum but you can mix all day with people in a supermarket, etc) being caught out for the very rules they voted for without question.

Lunchtime ? 10 O’clock at night ? And he said he went back to work :joy: sandwich break = 30 curries and beer ordered after saying the hotel restaurant he was staying was closed,it wasn’t.The Labour Party denied Rayner was there until evidence was shown she was and how many more people or MP’s were there that night ? Starmer could have come out with the truth but he and labour decided to do the holier than thou on party gate when Starmer knew he was in the wrong on Durham and he even used people affected by covid for examples knowing he was in the sh!t himself - Disgusting.

It's actually quite funny the lengths that you will go to differentiate.

Lunchtime? Ha! The actual lunchtime was the cake event? The night time one was Starmer. So you're saying Boris is okay and Kier is not?

The type of drinks and food had nothing to do with the rules. It's simply social or work. Plus Rishi got done without having a single beer.

Because you concentrate on those in charge.

Look, politics isn't like in the 80's before. They are all the same. This I am a blue or red is utter bollocks.

Judge those in charge and they have mugged you right off. If someone else takes over then judge them.

This is a local election. How Boris conducts himself doesn't relate to how the local council runs services. We still have the same council leader and CEO who have overseen the stripping of children's services from the councils control and they carry on regardless because they know they can't be removed because we can't remove the CEO, and due to Boris's antics we know Labour will benefit because many are too dumb to realise that they aren't voting in a general election and tomorrow's vote has nothing to do with Boris.

It's not them being dumb at all.

What is dumb are people nothing demanding more from their councils but thinking things don't come from the top eg those in power.

The reason why Bradford has so many refugees for example is because the central government (Boris) says to the councils who wants them we need to get them out of London then they ship them off to Bradford. Bradford don't ship them back. They are all in it together!

However, the Boris needs to learn a lesson and quickly. Local elections or not he needs to suffer! And then be replaced.

Fair enough. My mistake. I thought it was a lunch break.
If it was a breach of the rules then, I agree, it's very stupid of him to try to hide it. Looks like we'll have to wait and see whether the police, having already said it wasn't, decide there's sufficient grounds to investigate further. However, as a one-off, it still doesn't compare to the prolonged, frequent, systematic rule-breaking around No 10 though.

And here lies the very problem with politics. It's a fight to get to the top of that moral high ground only to be shot down when you get there. The same principle applies to the main parties come election time and is something Edin Nowhere alludes to, we are voting for what is the least shite, not because we fully believe in what they are doing. It's the my dad's bigger than your dad syndrome. No wonder we have the shitshow we have.

Why would we need to wait for the police? Nobody waited for the police when it came to the Downing Street parties? The condemnation was loud and clear long before the police even got involved.

I'm glad that you're finally coming round to thinking that lunchtime food during working should be completely okay though. Boris and Rishi will be delighted about your support :joy:

It's also not proven to be a one off. There's just clearly more scrutiny around Downing Street than there is on wherever Starmer works. If that 10 second video didn't exist we'd know nothing about it - it's extremely unfortunate and coincidental that the one time he broke the rules he got caught on camera don't you think?

The thing is I'm not actually bothered about what Starmer did - just as I'm not bothered about what Sunak and Johnson are supposed to have done - I'm only bothered about "proper parties" and there have been zero proof of any of those involving senior people to me knowledge. The problem though is that by holding Sunak to the highest possible account Starmer looks hypocritical and he's forcing his supporters to perform logical gymnastics to explain why a lunchtime cake with no beer in the office is bad but an evening curry and beers with 30 people when you're apparently attending a zoom quiz is fine.

So no difference at all between ordering a takeaway for your travelling workforce after all the other food outlets were shut, and having 30+ people quaffing wine in the Downing Street garden when they should have been at home with their families, or bringing in suitcases of booze for a basement disco?
And it wasn't a 'zoom quiz', it was a zoom meeting about maximising getting the vote out - ie work.

You don’t understand what’s wrong with Boris and his party did? Really?

Ask the people who had had relatives that died or those in Care Homes.

Seriously mate! Have some respect for yourself.

It was a Zoom quiz and social event. The Durham Labour Party even sent out invites.

The hotel even served food until 9pm so food outlets weren't shut.

Keep going mate. You'll hit something eventually.

Quaffing wine different to quaffing beer? Is that your line? What about Sunak who quaffed nothing?

The search for a differentiator is becoming laughable.

The people who couldn't be with their loved ones is heartbreaking. It has nothing at all to do with people who were gathering for work though.

When we're talking about how sad it was the people couldn't visit their relatives at crucial times we should probably remember who was pushing for longer and harder restrictions. That had much more of a direct impact that whatever went on in any distant office whether its London or Durham.
