I actually think they're ruining the country worse than labour could manage at this stage, they aren't even proper tories they just do whatever they think will keep them popular for another week. when a party has been in power this long it has the stench of a dead administration lacking ideas and talent. regardless of the alternatives, change needs to happen so as to get some new blood in and to stop them insulting us all by taking being in power for granted as much as they do. If they're all as bad as each other, nobody is exactly going to do any worse at it than these muppets are already doing. My life was infinitely better under New Labour and that is an undeniable fact at this stage.

I actually agree with a lot of your post in fairness but weren't you somewhere between a toddler and a 15 years old during the New Labour years?

My life was better when I messed around in a sandpit all day and had no bills to pay as well. :joy:

Definitely has the feel of a Party that's been in power for a long time running out of steam.
This opinion piece sums it all up very well in a measured, non-hysterical way. It may be in The Guardian, but it's written by Katy Balls, Deputy Political Editor of The Spectator, which is virtually the house magazine of the Tory Party:

Its funny how you say 'it might be the guardian' because you fear the reprisals. When in fact its about a billion times more worthy of being called a newpaper than any of the smut your accusers would compare it to.

I prefer a prime minister who gets caught out eating a bit of birthday cake than a war criminal puppet of Bush running the country myself

I was old enough to know nobody needed to use a food bank, I also didn't use a sandpit at 15 although if you did that's fine!

I was also old enough to watch the mental health services I was accessing due to some serious family issues disappear when the tories got in

They were in power for about 12 years. I'm guessing your weren't 15 for that whole period? :joy:

We weren't talking food banks though. You were talking about your life being better.

Didn't even think about it as you were comparing Blair's government to Johnson's

It might not be the last time we hear from Blair it looks like he fancies getting back into the lime light, buddying up to Macron there's a comedy duo for you, with a supporting act of David Miliband, former Tory Cabinet ministers Rory Stewart and David Gauke, who were kicked out of the party by Boris Johnson over Brexit and former Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson, funny who politicians will jump into bed with nowadays.

You prefer the man who is actually been charged with a criminal offense? who put a border down the middle of the UK and who caused thousands of unnecessary deaths by putting elderly into care homes and then quashed an enquiry into it?

Your values are clear to see

And part of that at least will have been down to the financial crisis which similar to the pandemic can't be ignored. New Labour has no crisis to cope with (not of their own making anyway) so we at least have to compare apples with apples.

Didn't New Labour introduce tuition fees? They must have done because I definitely paid them and went to University under Labour?
