Brentford didn’t sign him because he is poor. Their scouting team is top notch and pretty compatible with Brighton . They must see something in him to give him a two year deal with options?

 

Reminded me of the late Tony Leighton in that respect wasn’t a great height bu he couldn’t half leap

 

Possible why Ronnie Moore was at our last two matches scouting for Hartlepool

 

Keep Halliday, Platt & Pointon. Offload the rest. GA needs the headroom, to bring in the players he wants in the summer.

 

Mr Gent being in charge of transfers is what's giving me little hope. The amount of average at very best players he has brought in is shocking. We've more often than not played either a 5 at the back wing back tactic or a 4231 and seemingly recruited for neither tactic. And as he has said himself, he is in charge of the transfers and held responsible for all good and bad recommendations that sign.

It needs a re-think as this head of recruitment model hasn't worked thus far.

 

Richardson (GK) will go.
Zak Hadi is a better prospect and should be number 2 next season as when I watch him at training he's got real quality.
All other players who's contracts expire this summer apart from Halliday and Platt should be released.
Walker as good as he is has a terrible injury record.
We can't afford to keep losing 1st team players for months on end.
Pointon if he was that good would be playing every week.
The 'blinded by the fact he's local' brigade will have to suck that one up.
Ash Taylor and Vadaine Oliver paying off to go.
Smallwood, Ridehalgh, Stubbs, Hendrie, Derbyshire and the youngsters Youmbi and Rowe to leave.
So that would be 12 less than this season's squad.
GA wants a smaller group so get 7 new players who have experience in this league and have won promotion from it.

 

I'm in the mindset now of I don't care who's performed admirably for us just get shut of as many as possible regardless I'm done with the lot of em.

 

Feel for Jamie Walker. He's been the victim of two really poor challenges this season, especially the one from the Donny player.

Wouldn't trust Gent to replace him tbh.

 

I believe Zac Hadi is higher rated than Heath Richardson and I think we'll only maintain one of those next season.

 

Any new contract for Walker should be a lower basic salary topped up by appearances.
He simply doesn’t play enough games and whilst we definitely miss him when he’s out, we can’t afford him to be injured.

 

Does the contract extension option have to match his current deal or can it be re-negotiated?
£4000 a week (allegedly) puts him in the highest pay bracket in the whole division so obviously we need to see value for money.

 

A broken foot, a broken leg and a fractured skull in the last two seasons against Doncaster and then McCann has the cheek to moan about injuries!

Completely different players and, fitness issues aside, we need both in the team.

 

I'd actually be happy to keep him in the squad, but I'd like to see us more to a more fluid and higher energy approach. Cook from the bench with a handful of starts would still be a useful weapon.

 

I'm getting slightly concerned that a few scrappy meaningless good results when the pressures off at the end of a disaster of a season may cloud judgement to the managerial team, I don't care if we win every remaining game left my thoughts stay the same, which is bar a selected few as in like say 3 or 4 at max I'd let the whole lot go if given opportunity, the thought of Smallwood and Oyegoke who GA bizarrely rates both still here next season makes me feel ill and contemplating just packing the whole thing in all together.

 

Whilst it's clear there are changes required to become promotion contenders, I'd be cautious about having too much of an overhaul in the summer.

Everything I gage about transfer windows, particularly at league 2 with limited resources is how chaotic they are. It's a case of scouting the right players, finding the right fit for our team, the right personalities, competing with rival teams for the same players, missing out on targets and moving onto plan B and C...

This all becomes harder and harder when you spread your focus on too many targets. I feel like the last few seasons we always seem to be trying to 'overhaul' the squad and end up with as many misses as we do hits. And even get some good players that just don't fit into our way of playing.

I'd much rather we focus on the 'leaner and meaner' and target 3-4 key areas to 100% get right. Even if that means it'll take an extra couple of windows to get our squad into shape I think it's better than having to offload huge numbers every summer and starting from scratch.

 

Why do you say that. GA has inherited Smallwood and because there are no other viable options in the squad, he has had no option than to keep playing him.

Personally, I reckon Smallwood will be released this summer, whoever the manager might be

 

Add Vincelot to that list from recent ish times.

 

I thought he was past his best when we signed him, how wrong I was.
A tremendous attitude and a great leader, I think we let him go a season too soon.
There aren't many like him around.
