City last played at Odsal in 1986, so 36 years ago!! You would have be over 40 years (probably mid 40’s) to have any accurate recollection of City playing there.

Not quite sure on the relevance of that point to be honest. Ever been to valley parade on pizzing down tuesday night, i think you will find a considerable drop in attendance on those nights too. we were lucky to have 7/8k in the ground same games last year.

A "potential" ground at odsal, would be 10 mins on a bus from the town centre, on a route serviced by 5 bus routes, wibsey, wyke, dewsbury, brighouse and west bowling. Not too disimilar an hassle as someone getting from south bradford to manningham lane without a car on a pizzing down tuesday night

Never said it was better than VP.

What I will say is VP is a dump also.

Would certainly have to be some kind of turf to meet RFL requirements from the looks of things.

Transports would be another conversation for those in charge, but it would be brainless from the council to not include extended bus services like Leeds do for Elland Road or Headingley, two stadiums that don't struggle for crowds and again aren't exactly public transport friendly. I believe Huddersfield offer something similar as their ground isn't near any good routes for trains.

It's another in a long line of Odsal plans that will fall away. Only benefit for City would be as a card to potentially play if VP continues to be a financial headache.

Seemingly, the plans were submitted in July. Found some details on a stadium business site made by the Bulls chairman below. Two months removed from his comments and now the plans have got some press.

“We’ve worked with local and national politicians to make this South Bradford corridor better. That work has been productive and with the help of the Levelling Up fund MP Judith Cummins, we are trying to help the club achieve its objective, a 21st century facility for Bradford.”
Wood stressed that the sports complex project has been drawn up by the City of Bradford rather than the Bulls. He added: “There’s a Bradford Council initiative to develop that corridor from Richard Dunn (Sports Centre), to here, then down the valley to make a modern facility.

“It’s probably a 2/1 shot it will come off as not everybody who applies for Levelling Up funding will get it, it has to be based on the impact in the local economy and everything the club stands for. The hopes and aspirations are to take the club forward, and part of that ability to remain relevant is to address facilities at the club.”

You're missing the point, it’s a fifty times better dump than Odsal will ever be.

Yes West Brom in a 3-1 defeat. Odsal has some differing memories for me, my debut watching City, 3-1 v Shrewsbury, that infamous day v Leeds and Ipswich when we lost 4-3 and it never stopped pizzing it down and the next home game we beat Town 4-3!!!

Would I want to go back. Not on your Nelly. That said, this venture won't happen. Pie in the sky.

It’s wholly relevant, name all the hospitality opportunities for fans that want hospitality for 60 mins before a game, surrounding Odsal, Bankfoot, Wibsey, West Bowling. Please don’t give me the spin that they can be “built”. Sustainable by being used 60 minutes once a fortnight? If they were sustainable NOW for and behalf of the local population they would STILL BE THERE. They aren’t! It’s unsustainable, so is a stadium it’s that simple. You won’t remember the old proposed scheme whereby they were going to have annual horse jumping shows there . Utter utter b/s, just like this scheme.

    Currently!

However, lazy Bradford City have big decisions to make soon. VP needs serious money.

I particularly love this quote basically admitting that Bradford has been pointed out as tge biggest shithole, needing the most help in the North. What a way to sell your City. Screenshot_20220921_095202.jpg

Absolutely, experience of the place combined with footballing use , is invaluable.

If they developed it with a driverless rapid transit transport system up and down Manc Rd , free on match days ( Not buses for god sake) then we may have a goer. Idea for maintaining support for the City Centre establishments? Sadly that would cost more than the stadia.

Although Wibsey has lost its share of pubs the same as everywhere else we did a pub count with
regards hostelries up to 10/15 minutes walk away from Odsal and it has more pubs in the vicinity than Valley Parade.

The daft thing is we should be championing a scheme that has the potential to bring jobs and new infrastrucutre to arguably the least invested area in the uk over the decades. Yet no one has any faith in any scheme led by the council after the failed schemes costing millions over the years. Heck, even the Odeon would have been pulled down if it wasn't for the efforts of the puiblic to stop it. Fact, we've had failed Odsal redevelopment schemes for as long as i can remember, 'Wembley of the North' and all that tripe. Lets face it, if we really want a stadium complex fit for the next generation of Bradfordians, then fill in Odsal, pull down Valley parade, buy up the land of the old post office buildings and the nearby land including Halfords and stick a 25/30,000 seater stadium on it. 5 minute walk into an alleged redeveloped city centre and the infrastructure of leisure outlets that will give you, which in turn allows for a great venue for other outside entertainment such as music concerts. Walking distance from new and existing hotels and two dead end train stations (unfortunately we will never have a through rail link).

The figures don't add up, the cost is far more than the grant, the income and benefits are over exaggerated and fairytale additions like solar farms and hotels are proposed costing millions more. A dome stadium for a summer sport at a failing team who at their peak would have been lucky to see what BCAFC are pulling in for a standard league 2 game.

This has all the hallmarks of complete and utter failure, but with the "we tried it's the governments fault" blame shift when this fantasy is rightly laughed out at the first stage.

Keighley won a £2.25m grant to build a new main stand a facilities because the plans were reasonable, thought out and realistic. There are no claims of it bring thousands of people into the area or them all spending £500 each. Just a new stand with what they need.

It's no surprise one has been granted and the other remains a fantasy first dreamed up nearly 50 years ago.

This is how Keighley have sold their plans.

City should keep well clear of this.It will never happen, and if City get dragged into this, they could find themselves with nowhere to play in a few years time.

There will be a dome stadium on the moon before there is one at Odsal.

Could find ourselves with nowhere to play at the minute if we are still in this division in a few years time. Not sure if it was an FA thing at the time, but clubs with a privately owned stadium in L1 & 2 all seem to have their leases up in 2028. Few have purchased their ground, few have publicly said they are in talks with their councils to move as they wont be paying for their current stadiums, few are yet to publicly announce anything.

Shows what imprint the council leave on people really doesn't it. Any other major city has a plan for a new stadium, indoor music venue to bring in concerts and there would be an air of optimism..... in Bradford, hard to find people with any confidence in this being approved, or if it does, the council actually pulling it off.

Yes I know Dave, but within easy walking distance of alternatives like North Parade or the City Centre as an equivalent?
