Might be one to keep an eye on if approved. A council owned new 25,000 seater stadium. Seems strange to have all that for just Rugby league, when the Bulls appeal is as low as it ever has to the public, with the plan to also host some internationals and challenge cup semis.

The project is subject to a successful bid in the second round of the government’s Levelling Up Fund, which has two potential awards of £50million for culture-led schemes. Additional funding would come from private and public-sector partners. It is hoped work will begin in 2024.

It says £100m cost. You mention £50m fund.
Where is the other £50m coming from?
Why the frig do the Bulls need a 25k stadium when their gates are sub 3k and they don't have a pot to piss in.

Another pie in the sky plan for Superdome mk27.

Bradford City will be hosting Champions League games before this is ever built.

An indoor arena holding 25,000 for a summer sporting team that get under 3,000 a game. Seems a bit overreaching to me.

It would be worth putting our name to this in fairness, just so we could at least go to Gibb without our pants completely bare when we next negotiate the lease.

It would be amusing if it wasn't actually true. They've got some brass neck on them at the council, can't believe they weren't laughing themselves when they submitted the plans

You know as much as me. But it does say the other 50M will be between private and public sector investments.

As I said, makes zero sense to have this for Rugby only. Very weird, that amount of money for something that new to be a fifth full every fortnight for 6 months? Makes me wonder if City might try enquire, or might already have knowledge and are waiting to see how it plays out. Pie in the sky it even gets to approval stage.

You wonder if the councillors have any understanding as to why Manningham Rugby Club and Bradford Rugby Club, abandoned Rugby League at the beginning of the 20th Century?

Basically they had the ability to understand that Rugby League just ‘did not pay’. So the two clubs changed codes and became Bradford City and Bradford Park Avenue.

In the fourth tier of Football Bradford City is capable of attracting gates of 16,000+

In the second tier of Rugby League, the Bulls attract less than 4,000.

Bradford Bulls attracts few people to Bradford. Those from outside drive up the M606 and then leave by it.

Not sure what the good people of Keighley with the Cougars, will think about the ‘preferential’ treatment for the Bulls.

A total waste of money which will go nowhere as Rugby league appears to be in decline. https://www.totalrl.com/up-or-down-an-in-depth-club-by-club-look-at-attendances-over-the-past-decade/

The Bulls look on their knees. Coached on the cheap, crowds dropped off and recruitment that looks so desperate they look in the shadow of Keighley. Club is going nowhere, so no wonder they are clutching at straws with an application like this.

The Cougars have funding for a new stand by all accounts. Basically within their means. Not pie in the sky like the Bulls.

The Cougars have just signed the Bulls player of the season. That is the level of the Bulls at the moment.

A council spokesman added 'Analysis shows the new complex would attract more than 1.25 million visitors year. That's just over 100,000 a month. That's premiership football numbers lol. Good luck getting that with 2,500 rugby crowds.

This the same analysis that said the City Park would bring in £80m per year.

Funny, i've never forgotten that quote. How on earth would a free paddling pool bring in £80 miilion? As i remember it was funded by the windfall from Leeds Bradford airport and Leeds invested some of their windfall in the first direct arena. I wouldn't allow Bradford council to run me a bath.

The Bulls do have potential if they get their act together we have seen it in the past. I thought the rugby league owned Odsall

They have no investment and play in the championship. At the moment they have less potential than Keighley Cougars

That’s rubbish granted they are a basket case at the moment but if they get resurrected they have the potential for big crowds unlike Keighley

No it isn't, its the plain truth. I've followed the bulls all my life. They have nothing to bring to the table. Without money they have no potential at all. Investment makes the potential. And no one is investing in either the bulls or the pie in the sky fantasy world stadium idea of the idiotic Bradford council.

The £625m these visitors would bring makes me laugh. That's £500 for each visitor.
So a lad and his dad watching a Bulls game is expected to generate £1,000. Is Salt Bae doing the catering?
