    I'd like to agree with you as it'd be refreshing to see someone from the youth team succeed. But Law's a far better footballer I'm afraid.

    I’d be disappointed to see Nicky Law leave. I’ve always rated and enjoy watching him play. Yes, perhaps not always as daring as going forward as he should be, but as other mention he is the best ‘footballer’ we have in our squad.

    In a strange way, I hope Grayson (providing he’s staying - there’s another subject!) sees Laws worth and has simply kept him on the bench due to wanting to give Lund a chance to prove himself due to limited apprearences. That, and also reluctance to change an unbeaten team (prior to the weekend).

    All this said, if Law doesn’t start on Tuesday im worried that he’ll be one on his way. If so, bad decision IMO.

    Whether he is a good footballer or not, then sadly he has scored ZERO goals this season. Sadly that does count!

    A joy to watch at times. BUT no goals! Would have thought he should be getting at least 5/6 a season. Things only went really bad for City at the end of December, so where were his goals, when the club was performing reasonably well.

    City needs goals from midfielders in open play. They just are not there at the moment.

    Strikes me that Nicky has driven into a footballing 'cul de sac'. Not going anywhere despite his good ball control.

    It is not the narrow range of play at which you excel at which counts, it is having more options, which mean the opposition cannot readily read your play.

    Agreed. A few goals and more assists would have been nice, but there's more to being a midfielder than just that. And it must be remembered that at times even our strikers have struggled to score for months on end. We haven't always been free scoring Bradford City with goals coming from all over the pitch - if only :)

    I still think he is a keeper for next season, otherwise I dread to think what we'll get instead.

    Can’t say ‘never’. It was his misplaced pass that allowed them to counter in the lead up to their goal. He had a number of chances to cross but didn’t and then sloppily gave the ball away cheaply.

    I like Law and would argue he RARELY gives the ball away cheaply. But he did on Saturday and it cost us

    Whilst I agree in part, it is worth pointing out that he has been played in a number of positions across midfield.

    His ‘rivals’ for the shirt haven’t really done any better:

    Gilliead 1 goal - 2 assists
    Reeves 0 goals - 3 assists
    Dieng 2 goals - 1 assist
    LAW 0 GOALS - 5 ASSISTS

    Not disagreeing with your view either. However this is a thread focussing on Nicky rather than a generic one about midfield!

    The midfield has generally been weak at providing goals/assists this season.

    If you add the ones you missed out, then Vincelot has scored 4 goals, McCartan 1, Guy 0 and Lund 0. Add Pybus Gibson and Devine into the mix and generally the midfield has been very poor.

    It is fine having lots of possession, but if the midfield are not scoring/creating goals and getting back to support the defence, then they do not offer enough positives.

    Do we actually need 11 midfielders? Perhaps 9 with a bit more quality would be a better use of resources.
