Johnathan Woodgate just emerged as joint favourite. Failed at Middlesbrough, knows nothing about league 2. Ideal choice.

Nothing wrong with creating breathing space to both sort the club out which Parky would do while giving us time to get the right manager in at end of season when choice and opportunity better

Lee Turnbull ex Preston and more recent Scunthorpe Head of recruitment incoming... Got Alexander or Hurst written all over it. Alexander PNE legend. Hurst more recently worked with Turnbull at Scunny.

Parky would be a complete fool to return and completely ruin his legacy. That is safe for all time and stands proudly on his CV for better work. Frankly I dont want him back for his own sake not mine. Nor do I want any of the others on that list either some of whom would also be signing their careers off if they touched it with a barge pole. My money is on Alexander though as he has recently managed in the National League where all this will end in May. Unless he gets fired which he should do if he takes us down !

Jonathan Woodgate is a random shout for one of the early favourites. Would be Interesting young candidate under different circumstances, however, right now we need someone who knows the lower leagues and ensure we stay up.

Personal choice would be Parky. I would be happy with Adkins though if he is a credible candidate.

Whoever it is, one of the most important appointments in our history in my opinion. He will either be our saviour or the one who takes into non league, no real middle ground.

Another advantage of bringing Parky back would hopefully be Allamby as well fitness and injury prevention is something we need desperately

I'd think bringing Lee Turnbull in would be with respect of finding players, I'd doubt he would be involved with any input into our next manager.

I like Adkins as a person, but I'm confused with this love in and why some of our fans think the will be any good

Granted his Scunthorpe tenure was genuinely superb. But let's remember he inherited a Southampton squad, that even Stuart would have got promoted (remember it is well known that Pardew was sacked because of 'off field' antics - what other reason does a manager gets sacked after a 4-0 away win!!) And all this was back before 2013

Since then nothing. Unless you think taking Sheff U to their lowest position since 1983, is an achievement. His Hull tenure wasn't that bad - but significantly if you talk to Hull fans, they think it was - which shows he's rubbish at rebuilding a club in terms of taking it back to where it should be, i.e. us League 1 (at worst)

It's about getting in a manager who can get the best out of the current bunch. January isn't going to rescue us without that been done. It's no good bringing in even 10 great players if there are another 10 who simply have an attitude

It's the Cowley's or Parky for me - but the latter will not be daft enough to come back

So now that Stuart has gone, and it's ended the way many feared but didn't want to see, it really is the case that Ryan is in charge of the next managerial appointment.

We're in the bottom three, and a man with no history of appointing football managers is now tasked with the most important decision in the clubs history.

And people like @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler say just give him a chance.

This is the absolute nightmare scenario, one so ridiculous it's unfathomable. There is a chance he gets it right, but any appointment is going to struggle to get a tune from this squad, and none of us are exhilarated to think who may be advising him at this point.

The failure to appoint a DoF could be the last mistake we make as a league club.

    God damn it.

I'm genuinely surprised that there are people out there who wouldn't take PP back for any other reason than protecting his legacy.

I get that it's backward looking to an extent but we're asking the next manager to do something akin to what he did first time around. So why wouldn't you appoint someone who you know can actually do it?

Yeah and more players added to the squad in January who may not fit the style of the new manager.

PP loved it here and wanted to build the club, He soon recognised Rahic would ruin it and left, He may fancy another challenge if conditions are met
