Neither did André Villas-Boas. I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive, just extremely common. Equally, you don’t need to have been a particularly good footballer to be a good manager.

Hopefully he's taking training whilst Warnock is sorting out the contracts for them both.

I agree with that but he can't always be the answer

I back him though but won't be rushing to renew.

Warnock as Sporting Director- perfect! That's what the club needs.

It needs a sporting director urgently.

Isn't that a perfect example of what I said though Fordy?

Gary Bowyer loses 3 and draws 3 - 95%+ acceptance from fans that a sacking is the right thing to do and excitement about the future.

Stuart McCall loses 6 on the bounce (generally to poor teams) - "oh no, he should never have been sacked, come back again"

    It'll be the same again.

Who was supposed to leave last time? Given the chairman at the time were too head strong to change after only being there 18 months. And you cant sack the under performing squad half way through the season. If the manager in that spot in Jan 2018 was anyone but McCall, nobody would have that mindset.

He had 9 games from the wheels coming off to his sacking. With 6 points out of 27, a -11 goal difference in those 9 games alone and we scored in 7 of them. For reference, Bowyer's last nine in charge had 10 points out of 27 and a -4 difference. Both cases, play off chasing teams in terrible form. When you get to that, managers leave.

I'm on the fence with stuart. On the one hand it is a lazy appointment, showing even more so that Rhodes hasn't a clue. But on the other, I wouldn't be annoyed at his arrival. His football last time out was a true pleasure to watch, win, lose or draw and I think these players would suit that style.

Maybe a short term appointment to get the feel good factor back is what we need.

My biggest concern over bringing McCall back is that he doesn’t replicate the results he had the last time he was in charge. Anything short of that and it could tarnish what was an incredible spell for him. Anything better would be a miracle, but I’m not sure many could achieve that. It might be best to leave his reputation in that respect intact.

Underwhelmed if it’s Stuart but think it will be. Do love him but felt in big games we always came up short under him despite his good form overall. We have a lot of big games left. Hope I’m wrong but would have preferred warnock and him.

if it is McCall we must make sure he gets his own back room team in if that’s what he needs

It is lazy but it also makes a lot of sense in the short term, until the end of the season at least.

nah, there are plenty that will make enough excuses for him. he knows that, that's why its a win-win situation for him. always someone else's fault.

He'll probably lose a non-league standard, reserve right back and we all know you can't hold a squad together after catastrophes like that.

m8, I agree under normal circumstances. Rahic was not acting like a chairman in a transfer window and normal circumstances. He was destroying team moral with hendry, mcmahon etc Stuart done wonders that season doing what he did, there after we seen what was coming from rahic. Once again it was never normal circumstances. The wrong man left at the time. And if only the majority chairperson knew what was really happening things could have been so different. We would not be a lge 2 team for sure!
