Bradford City have completed the loan signing of Jamie Devitt, who returns to the club following an initial spell at the Utilita Energy Stadium back in 2011.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has agreed a season-long loan deal and arrives from Sky Bet League One side Blackpool.

Devitt, who claims heritage number 1120 having previously spent time with the Bantams, has featured for the likes of Carlisle and Morcambe in recent years.

A product of Hull City’s academy, Devitt said: “The manager got in touch with Blackpool and, once I heard of the interest, there was nowhere else I wanted to be.

“The team is doing really well at the moment and I just want to come in and add to that.

“We have a really good squad here. The gaffer has recruited brilliantly, there is plenty of experience, and I think we all know what we need to do: get promoted.

“This is a tough division and you will have ups and downs along the way. It is all about doing the right things and being consistent.

“I come back to Bradford as a different person. I was young and immature the first time around. This is a fresh start and I cannot wait to get going.

“This is a massive club. We shouldn’t be in League Two and the fans don’t deserve to see us in this division, so we need to get promoted this season."

City manager Gary Bowyer added: “Jamie has proved in this division what a great threat he is and we look forward to him contributing goals and providing assists.

“There were several clubs interested in Jamie. But he expressed a desire to come and play here.

“He understands Bradford City and wants to play in front of our fantastic fans, once again.”

Devitt, who will wear the No.27 shirt, could make his debut tomorrow when City face Forest Green Rovers. His signing is subject to the relevant EFL and FA clearances.

Liking the reference to heritage numbers. Good to see it keeping momentum.

Ok. Let’s play guess the formation, because now we’ve got three central midfielders (four of you count Akpan), and still no left sided player.
Back to 433? Which wasn’t successful. Can’t help but think that Devit is a luxury signing and we’re gonna be in the same situation as Doyle being shoehorned in just because.

It wasn't successful as we didn't have the right players in the system, we shoehorned Doyle in to get him out of the club.

I’m in Dubai at the moment. Just logged on for a nosey and it’s good to see GB is working his magic. If he can pull off a miracle and get Ryan Edmondson from Leeds it will be the icing on the cake . CTID

No left side midfield player? What about Connor Wood? We've seen that he is better playing further forward plus we have already seen what a good delivery he has from wide on the left. Also it was his corner the other night that lead to the own goal.

Yes, for me Wood now classes as a left midfielder - it would be a mistake to ask him to play left back, where he was very poor last season.

Great to get two in. But slightly concerned they are both loans. We will be worrying in December about recalls and will need to start again in the summer

    No we won't.

Devitt clearly isn't wanted by Grayson no matter what - it's crystal clear

Cooke was on the transfer list and last year of his contract. He won't be returning.

Bottom line is they've to produce for us. Let's concentrate on that.

After watching the video of his goals on the transfer rumour thread, it looks like he's a really good dead ball specialist. Something we've not had for a few seasons.
And looking at some of the goals he's scored in open play, I reckon, at a pinch, he could be cover for either Vaughan or Donaldson.

Parker mentioned about us being near the 50% barrier for that financial fair play the other day. We probably don’t have a choice, these two aren’t in their clubs plans going forward. If they play well and enjoy it here no reason the moves can’t become permanent, it’s not like they’re youngsters with a future at their clubs. If they do poor then we simply look elsewhere.

Does the lad read this board? Good to hear his thoughts on it, honest and put the record straight.

Good luck to the lad. Let's hope he adds to the squad and we all benefit as a club.

Totally agree. He was great on the left in midfield until Henley got injured. What’s the update on that? So, Wood on the left, Scannell on the right, who makes way for these two new boys in the middle, or are they going to be on the bench? Either way, means we’ve got a midfield loan player dropping to sub. I’d have preferred Devit OR Cooke AND a striker. Maybe it still happens.

Probably - it’s where GB gets his match day tactics from.

His old one, 1120, which relates to his debut, for us, on 3 September 2011 away at Morecambe.

That is what I thought? If it is a new one I wonder what the gap has to be between to get a new one
