This IS the problem but its exploded into a full on attack, even with Rupp out on twitter. Its very early in the season and we've only had one home game and it might well be that Hughes gets his team selection right and we climb the table. But if he doesn't this isn't the fault of either Sparks or Rupp, this is completely down to Hughes and Gent. they've taken the approach to change formation and as a result the type of player we recruit. Can't lay the fault of player recruitment at the CEO, maybe a discussion as to the owner and how his lack of investment dictates the level of player we sign?

 

I think for this league, the money we have available should be more than enough to assemble a squad capable of promotion, it's how it's being spent both now and over the past few seasons that's the problem. Even before Adams was here, Sparks was talking about us recruiting players that were not only going to get us promoted, but that were also going to be good enough to step up to the next level and help us push on there. None of those players were good enough to get us promoted, never mind kick on in league 1. Recruitment was the issue then, it's still the issue now and it will continue to be the issue because every season, regardless of whether it's a new manager coming in or the same one, we rip up the blueprint from the previous year and start again. That approach is never going to work, most of us said it at the end of last season - small tweaks and 3 or 4 quality players in was all that was needed for us to be a top 3 side. Pattison, McDonald, Smith and Oduor might well turn out to be those 3 or 4 quality players, but they'll be wasted if we continue to f*ck about at the back with a system that we haven't recruited the right personnel for.

 

I've only been down to training a couple of times during Sparkies time at the club, both times I was there before the squad came out and stayed until they went for their lunch (I presume) and Sparkie was there all of the time.
I agree during that time his backroom staff and Hodges took most of the training but he certainly got involved when they played 11 Vs 11.
Funnily enough with regards our resent managers Derek Adams was always involved giving instructions and when not directly involved he was writing notes on his clip board.

 

Didn't Rupp do that during the COVID pandemic.

 

We have just changed system and only got a new left wing back last week so we need to be patient and wait at least ten matches before doing anything drastic.

 

Good point, but it's all well and good to blame BFG for the money taken out of the club, and paint him as greedy. When dividends are paid they have to be paid to all shareholders (who are eligible for dividends) in proportion to their ownership percentage.

It's just possible that the Rhodes family were the ones who demanded the dividends be paid to get back the money they invested in 1999 and BFG had no choice but take it.

We have not helped ourselves by doing what Hughes has done.
Was there any need to start the season with a completely new system, as has been said we were so near last season why did he not do like Millwall did the season after getting beat in the play off final against Barnsley, keep the nucleus and add more quality the the positions where we struggled.
It's been posted already but how can you discard a back four that had the 3rd best defensive record in the league to go down a completely new route.
I'd have thought 3/4 better players in those designated areas would have been cheaper than what he's doing.

 

Richards played as a LB for Harrogate, he isn't a LWB by trade. None of our existing CBs are suited to playing in a back 3 apart from one, who Hughes doesn't fancy. The CB we recruited during the summer doesn't look like he's suited to a playing in any kind of defence, whether it be a back 3 or a back 4. The lad we are playing at RWB isn't a RWB. It's a complete shambles and the sooner we revert to a back 4, the better.

 

I prefer our CEO going about his Bradford City business in a top of the range Audi than a Dacia.
Sorry as a Bradford City fan of long standing driving an Audi is way down on my list of priorities for one of the top earners at our club.

 

I could see their point mate, they had put the original finance in, as we know Geoff was not slow in coming forward to spend other people's brass .

Which Ryan alluded to in that audio clip I posted, a very competitive 4th division ( love his call it as it is) attitude, the likes of which we've not seen for a while.

Baffling mate maybe he has an agenda against the guy, as I say way down on my priority list with regards Bradford City, I know in the past Jack used to give the manager a car maybe Ryans marketing team did a deal with JCT600 who knows and to be honest who cares.

 

Pretty pathetic guff Dave. It’s more likely or not a company car, all similar positions “ come with” a company leased car. I had one in engineering. It’s common business practice.The higher the grade the better the car options and fuel funding.
