Yes I have to agree, he’s not employed by them anymore. They knew they had to let him go and yes City will have had to pay compo, even though he “ resigned” . Perhaps City DID do a deal in December, irrespective of their promotion or not, I’m convinced.

If he did it to them, he'll probably do the same to us, when it suits him.

 

Because even though he resigned he can not sign with another club until the end of his contract (which still has 12 months to run) unless a compensation package is agreed.

As will the likes of Ryan if their successful, in which case Bradford City will have been successful.

 

I've got a theory on all of this. Not sure how accurate it is. Bear in mind it is only a theory, I'm not ITK or claiming this to be anywhere near the actual facts.

Sparks spoke to Adams in December and offered him the job, Adams being an honourable chap and Morecambe in a good position said I'd love to come but not right now, however if you still want me in the summer I will come then.

Sparks went back and appointed T&S on a permanent deal, giving them a contract on the same money (somewhere around £2,50 and a mars bar) they were on so the club weren't disadvantaged, they had some stability as reward if he had to remove them, and told T&S exactly what the position was (hence the reason neither has spoken to the press since getting "sacked") and re-assured them they had a job come what may.

The Win Win is that T&S had already virtually kept us up. If they took us up they had a guarantee that they could stay on as first team managers, but Ryan more or less knew that wouldn't happen, and if they didn't we keep them here in a role of some format with Adams coming in as manager.

As the season drew to a close, and it became obvious that T&S didn't have the plan B required to get us up, Sparks approached Morecambe again and got agreement to re-commence talks with Adams (possibly as long ago as early April) and he agreed terms but wanted to get the playoff out of the way. That done, he resigns and comes, with Morecambe's blessing which is why they aren't too outwardly pissed off.

Trueman will stay and become more involved in the first team, possible as a first team coach. Sellars will replace Drury , whose contract runs out in June, possibly as head of development. Hurst was never in the picture (if he was we could have had him with no issues or compo) and that was a massive red herring that Sparks was happy to let grow legs, fed by the T&A fed with it's own brand of poor journalism.

The fly in the ointment would have been getting to the playoffs but not winning, so Sparks would be relatively happy with that, but obviously would have been even happier if T&S had actually taken us up. We get a new manager with a very good record at this level, get to keep two very promising coaches without pissing them off, and it all plays out relatively smoothly despite Morecambe going up.

Actually in this scenario it does actually kind of make sense Hurst being in the frame... Sparks has told in an interview of being about to offer the job to someone but speaking to Rupp at the last minute and decided to run with T&S (could of course have been a story to sound good but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here). That could mean Adams turned us down but said let me know if you're still looking at the end of the season, and that left us with Hurst who Sparks wasn't 100% on and with T&S going well at the time decided to risk sticking with them until he could get the man he really wanted. Hurst did seem overly bitter when we beat Grimsby later in the season...

By the sound of it the deal has been done amicably which is good

 

I don't think this is far of the the mark at all but I do think Hurst was in the frame and I believe we did approach Lowe.

I believe if T & S would have taken us up then they still would have been replaced. T & S were a stop gap in my mind for Adams or a Lowe to be become available. Lowe made it clear he was staying at Plymouth then it was just about Adams. It was done ages ago.

 

Fair play to their Chairman there. A very measured interview. Comes across very well, Morecambe should be proud of him
