New Kit

It's a replica of the 1996 Wembley Shirt. It's the only logical anniversary.

 

Wasn't a very unique shirt though was it? In fact, its about as standard as you can get.

Yeh, claret and amber stripes with black shorts and black socks like about 75% of our recent kits.

 

Apart from the shirt that saw us promoted from Division 4 ermmmm 40 years ago....

 

hahahah, you're just not giving up on the dream are you? In fairness, it would fit the Avec logo well - running down the arms and all that.

Is 40 a more significant anniversary than 25 ? Silver Jubilee of our Wembley visit trumps it for me. However, that kit is very similar to what we currently wear. Personally don't care as I won't be buying one.

I think I am right that this kit was produced for the FA Cup 6th Rd tie with the Saints. In essence it would be a 45th Anniversary of those Cup exploits so has some relevance. And we were a 4th tier outfit then as we are today. So why not look for some "inspiration" from those "boys of 76"..proper players Downsborough; Podd; Cooke; Hutchins; et al ?

 

I think because we went up from DIv ,4 to Div 3 which we are trying to achieve now makes it more significant.

Players were shown the new kit yesterday so assuming a photo shoot took place. Should be this week...Im guessing Friday.

 

I've heard we had to delay the unveiling of Songo'o because they forgot to put the hyphen in his surname on the new shirt and then had to send it back to be amended.
