I agree about the young lads would be good if we kept them till they get us where we want to be before "cashing in" won't happen but can dream

 

Could it be that a bit like our mythical striker recruitment, we were waiting on an alternative target and finally got the back word?
Step forward our "only target". Who the hell knows. I wish him well but he needs to make a statement of serious intent very soon and not just a bunch of platitudes.

Striker would be nice but theres nothing more demoralising than letting in cheap goals. New striker wont help if we are letting in goals at the other end. Thats what I would sort out first. Someone Peter Clarke esque. What's Kilgallon doing?

 

True but if I had to pick one thing thats what I would do first and I think it would make the biggest difference. Some say a striker but you think of any successful team. Sort it out at the back first

I actually agree with the sentiment behind your post but what I just cannot agree with this putting this blind faith idea of stability in a man who is, like it or not, a proven failure as a manager.

It is now nearly 2 years since Rahic was ousted, yes his legacy has us where we are but just how much longer do we go on blaming him? Allot of the current crop have arrived post the Rahic era and at the moment I just do not see what actual plan we are trying to implement.

I appreciate there are allot of unhappy supporters out there but I would expect many of them would accept the idea of a long term plan if this was put together in a proper and professional manner. The facts are, if any other manager had us performing like we are with our league position but came out with statements such as “I’m happy with the squad” “there are no financial constraints from the board” etc and has failed 5 seasons previously, then I very much doubt fans would be asking for us to put our long term faith in them.

Surely if the strategy was/is a long term project, then you interview all available candidates and identify the best one. What you don’t do is just ring up an old mate who’s failed you several times before and just hope that this is now their time.. despite performing disastrously in their probationary period (I get that isn’t what his first year back was but you get my drift). Although given the fact that JR actually chose Peter Taylor over Phil Parkinson when he did carry out an interview process probably suggests that even this may not have seen the right candidate appointed.

Julian Rhodes is a fraud, he tried to paint himself as the knight in shining armour after Rahic but has done absolutely nothing other than take us even further backwards.

 

WITH A ANOTHER MANAGERS TEAM. THAT MCCALL DIDNT BUILD.

 

'Things could change between now and then' is their get out of jail card.

 

The two spells that McCall has done okay was when he took over teams who were started off by managers more successful than him. Brown and Parkinson. To his credit he continued to roll on those foundations but eventually left both worse off in the league.

Whenever McCall has either took over a struggling team or built his own there has only been failure and regression.

Which scenario is more appropriate to where we currently stand?
