I think he's the only LB they've got so it will be Harrogate that look like the tits if he doesn't play.

 

I dont know the ins and outs but my personal opinion is that Foulds hasn’t done enough offensively to impress Hughes. They’ve worked in training, but he’s a CB playing LB and is what he is. Hughes gets frustrated his attacking output isnt improving and so brings in a supposedly more attacking LB. Foulds reads between the lines, feels he can’t be the ‘James Meredith’ type LB we are looking for to provide width in a diamond, so takes an opportunity to leave 10 days before the window shuts and he’d be consigned to the bench for the rest of the season?

 

We've apparently enough creativity in this squad to get promoted, yet there's talk of a left back being a game changer? The problem never really was the left back position, it was more that Hughes hasn't got his front six firing together after over half the season gone. If the new lads brought in those positions and the the current ones do their jobs we won't have to worry about who is playing left back.

 

Im more than glad you ain’t the manager. On multiple occasions your comments are pretty bizarre. Stick to it, opinions and all that. If you honestly believe Foulds is an ALL ROUND better full back than Halliday you are frankly wrong, no matter your opinion and the merits of it.

Wayne Jacobs was great at that, him and Beagrie on the left - what a partnership they were.

 

I seem to recall when Foulds first came into the team he was much more attack minded.
Just to add to what you have said, I would have much rather tried to develop Foulds who is our player, than waste time getting a loan player fit and firing knowing he'll be gone at the end of the season. I also want my full backs to be competent defenders too.

That was my worry with regards Hughes comment, Bola has hardly played because of injury yet Matty who has been a steady performer (even better when he had a good partner in front of him down the right flank) is basically discarded, Ridehalgh is still getting back to match day fitness which might be late February before he's ready.

Shame he only did that after offering them both new 2 year deals. I imagine we could have signed a fairly decent player on the wages saved.

 

As I have mentioned previously, shouldn't it be Gent who is to blame for player recruitment? It is his job title after all!!

 

Yes and No. He is in charge of recruitment but I would be amazed if Hughes hasn’t instructed him on the type of player he needs. When he comes back with his shopping list all ticked off he then further consults the manager. It would also surprise me if the manager doesn’t have the last say on it.
