There wasn't one.

So you're saying Edin had a list, therefore he wasn't responsible for signing and negotiating with players on his own?

Stop apologising and rewriting history.

Edin had no head of recruitment and no manager, and clearly there are people we signed who nobody but Edin had wanted.

 

If they were on Abbots list then clearly they were wanted by Abbott and Edin.

 

Pretty big if considering, like I said over and over, Abbott was off the scene, we had no manager, and Edin was recruiting questionable players with no one else involved.

Which is downright stupid, and it's no surprise preseason was a farce from start to finish, from friendlies, to player signings, to the managerial mess.

To compare that to Lawn's tenure is fine, but to claim the errors both made are similar?

It's not that much of an "if" is it. Greg had talked through the process they would be undertaking and I've seen nothing to suggest that was deviated from.

If Abbott is drawing up a list and Edin is ignoring it while he's away then why is Greg still working for him? Does he have no pride and need the wage that badly? Greg doesn't need to be on the scene for his list to be used.

It's not like we were signing superstars and performing like a well run club when Greg was there and the farce started when he went off sick. We have been signing dross for 3 seasons now.

 

Unless that list was incredibly detailed, with priority, secondary, tertiary targets, and valuations, plus an indication of which signings specifically suited which, if you left a guy like Edin charge, chances are you'd come back to a mish mash of players who even a good coach couldn't assemble into a competitive team.

If his intention all along was to appointment Collins, Drury as Abbott to coach the side, then why did he take 6 weeks to do it and why did he interview other candidates for the job? That would be even more of a farce than the real reason we ended up with a coaching team full of amateurs.

 

He did, otherwise he would have lost Parkinson. Hopefully Hopkin can pull the same rabbit out of the hat.

Well I'd be hopeful it was as detailed as that since Abbott is supposed to be a knowledgeable football guy. If it was just a scrawled down list of names tgen we might as well have had one of the YTS guys doing the scouting.

Probably not the worst ideas in hindsight actually. At least they might have actually been able to spot a player.

 

Rahic went with those three because nobody else wanted the job under the conditions Edin offered. There really is no more to it than that.
