Hughes says “ we have got to get the finer points right” I suggest it’s the basics they need to get right

Just seen the highlights (sic) was okekokes second yellow for kicking the ball into touch, because the foul was certainly not a yellow card offence.

I made my view clear back in June. If Hughes went tomorrow there'd be over one hundred applications within days. But it's choosing the right man/men that is crucial. There are many names mentioned in this thread but the Cowleys would be my standout choice and they are still available.

However depressed any of you are about things remember you are a big club, easily the biggest in League Two. It is a dream job and a wonderful opportunity for the right management team.

I wanted him or Evans before Hughes. Can’t for the life of me think he’d leave Orient in League One though. We are a basket case club. He is under contract until 2025 and we aren’t gonna pay compo

Darren Moore’s name has been mentioned but Sheff Wed dumped him after he tried to get more money after their promotion and we aren’t going to pay him a Championship wage. He seemingly thinks that is his level, so cross him off the realistic list.

steve evans would come here but the problem is his contract extension until 2025. We arent buying out his contract either, even if the big lad would love the challenge here.

I think the way to go after Hughes is bringing in a young, dynamic coach. Like a Neil Critchley, Kieran McKenna type. Tap into their links to utilise the loan market.

Trueman and Sellars didn’t have the right pedigree before - wasn’t Truey at Eccleshill United etc?

it is the way to go. Mark Bonner took Cambridge up from nowhere on a shoestring.

We can’t have another dinosaur after Adams and Hughes.

The Bruno money thing was denied by him and his agent and the Sheffield Wednesday chairman is known for spouting a lot of nonsense.

I’m not saying that we could get him or afford him but I wouldn’t definitely rule it out given our location and the fact that we are one of his former clubs. Plus he’s big mates with Wayne Jacobs.

in that case, fair enough then. He’s done good work at West Brom, Donny and the Owls. Him and Jakes as no. 2 would be very popular. Still doubtful he’d drop to L2 though

I'm defending Oyegoke by saying that he probably isn't used to playing with so many inept teammates.

We should pay compo. Its the most important role at the club. If we did, I think he'd come. League 1 or 2 is a coin toss really, not much in it. We're bigger than Orient, even if we make a balls of all we do. Match or beat the wages, commitment to back him, he'd come.

agree its the most important, just not sure our sustainable model would justify paying two managers a wage this year!

I'm weary from all the managerial changes we've had. Listening to all the crap about 'how big this club is' and it 'being in the wrong league'. All the 'only signing players who can play in front of big crowds and can handle the pressure'. The 'making VP a fortress and making the opponent scared of the atmosphere'. It's just so tiresome and repetitive.
As much as I'm disappointed with the opening performance, I'm hoping Hughes isn't as stubborn as he was last season and changes things quickly. The injury to Taylor might be a blessing in disguise, Hughes hooking Smallwood might be telling (certainly hope so), and with having the remaining few weeks of the window to identify the weaknesses, let's hope we can recruit the right personnel, whilst getting rid of those who won't feature at all. Let's stick with Hughes for now until we see its not going anywhere but still have a chance to get up.
We've tried no experience managers, to a manager with the highest of experience at the top of football. We’ve tried partnerships, single managers with no assistants. We’ve brought back managers for a second time. Managers with promotions on their record, big names, and little known names to owners who think they are managers, yet we continue fail. I had hoped with Hughes, that he might have brought along some real investment into the club (that was certainly the rumour I heard), but although we've seen small off field investment, we haven't had any serious investment and my fear is until we do, we're going to be also rans for a while yet.

Taylor is injured? Excellent news. Wouldn't wish serious injury on any player, but if it keeps him away from the team for several weeks that's a bonus.

I’ll get pelters for this but I hope Cook isn’t fit for Tuesday as it’ll force Hughes to play 2 up front, probably Derbyshire / Smith which looked brighter in the last 15 mins at Crawley.
