That would be the sort of decision I would expect from Sir Keir keep the camp happy a bit like being brexit neutral ;)

I think people just have to accept that it happens at away games, and not just ours - most lower league. Whether people agree with them or not, I honestly don't know how you police it. I dread to think where some of the young uns hide them...:D

I think Timi might get the nod for this one. A) to try build some confidence back in the lad after his last poor outing in the league but mainly B), Suttons two starting strikers this season are 5'9 and 5'11 lads with pace to their game. Vaguely remember Timi recovering well and being better against that type, whereas if they had a big 6'3 unit I'd have said Songo'o all day long. They have been struggling for goals up front, got a big lad in Kwame Thomas to come off the bench but his goal scoring record is pretty shoddy, 10 apps this season and yet to score. Their top scorer in the league is a winger, Randall with 3.

I can only assume you weren't at the game

The refs input from start to finish was up there with one of the worst i've ever seen. Not just the 10 mins and sending platt off, but just everything. For instance, carding Banks for wasting time on the throw in...never seen that before

In my opinion, the majority of football fans, managers, players etc would have so much more respect for refs if they actually came out to face questions directly after a match, particularly if there were contentious decisions in the game

Yes Challinor said in his post match interview at Valley Parade Timi's recovery was excellent but he thought Wootton would cause him problems in the air, I hear what you say with regards getting his confidence back but I think I'd go with Yann as we know it will only be a one off and Platt will be back against Northampton.

He's a very odd character is Clough, and I don't think i'd like him as our manager

He has hung Perch out to dry there, exactly same as he did last season when he slated their player for being old pals with Vernam. Very poor man management and will do very little for the teams confidence

Can I only comment on games I physically attend?
I presume then that you’ve only ever commented on games that you’ve actually attended if that’s now become a prerequisite for posting on here?
It solely boils down to good and bad referees.
Some are strong and some are weak.
When Mike Dean or Michael Oliver referee games and the players surround them after a foul do they give in and do as the players want them to?
No they dont because they are strong referees.

Every league has strong/good refs and weak/bad refs.
Even the Premier league has weak refs so this misconception that top refs get everything right and lower league refs get everything wrong is just incorrect.
I’m not denying that last night was one of weakest displays of refereeing I’ve seen but I stick to my view that both Platt offences could have been yellows.
Regarding Banks’ yellow.Time wasting is still time wasting whether it’s from a throw or goal kick or any other part of play.
The sooner we accept that there are some very good refs and some truly terrible refs the better.
We’ve all been at games where we’ve said after that we didn’t even notice the ref.
Last nights game was the complete opposite but I guarantee that we’ll see some more awful displays of refereeing in the rest of the season just like we’ll see games where we don’t even notice the official.
You’ll always get different levels because you are dealing with humans who have different levels of tolerance.
My view of what’s a yellow could be completely different to yours but it doesn’t make either of us wrong.
I’m clearly in a minority (of one) regarding Platts sending off so we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Incidentally,I agree 100% with your comment on refs being made to explain their decisions but it’s just not going to happen any time soon.

Just watched the Huddersfield match recorded from last night, balls kicked away after free kicks have been given as if it was the norm .. !!
And as i've said earlier it wasn't even a foul in the first place re Platt ..

    Wally.
It was literally 1 second after ref blew.
Ref was for Mansfield all night.
How he didn't give handball before Smallwood scored is beyond me.
Glad he didn't but if Smallwood hadn't have scored there is no way he would have blown.

Agree Dave , he was very very inconsistent, certainly favoured the home side in the decision making process throughout the 103 minutes.

I’m not sure they will be. They have a squad of 18….lots of aged players having to play well out of position. They only brought on their main threat Hawkins with a few mins to go because he is injured and shouldn’t have even been on their bench.

    That’s a very fair point.
I thought Songo’o too but after that info…Timi for his pace.

No way was it a second yellow, he kicked the ball literally the exact moment the inept ref blew his whistle

And, by the way, what a cracking ball from Platt for Cookie to chase that led to the 2nd goal
