Answer me this then. Do you think City demanded a fee for a player we probably have no intention of using and was not only taking up a space on the squad list, which prevents us adding to the squad, but was also costing around 10k a month?

Surely they'd be happy just to offload him and save on the monthly wages/NI contributions etc?

Or, does it make more sense that City requested the amount of money it would cost them to move him on and FGR were happy to pay it to get him in?

 

He isn't owed it if he agreed to move. That's the way football transfers work. Like I said earlier, if Bayern Munich sold Harry Kane tomorrow, he wouldn't get his contract there paid up by them, he would just rip it up and sign a new one at the new club. It's just not common place that your contract is paid up when you transfer between clubs, and never has been.

He may also have been paid a signing on fee by FGR. Unless he's signed there for less money he's not out of pocket.

Good point. We know nothing of the facts and it is all subjective. For all we know, Manny may have asked his agent to find him a new club for a fresh start, or we may have asked Manny's agent to do the same.
