If I had to pick one it would be John hawley. Instrumental in our success in that era. Although Daisy Mcniven was a breath of fresh air in his time.

I'm lost mate, football used to be such a simple game, employ a manager get the players in he wants (within budget) he's either successful and stays in a job or he fails and gets the boot, but being responsible for getting great attacking football out of players you have no control over does sounds a little alien to me, but if Edin says it the way forward wtf do we know.

 

If only he'd not scored that bloody header against Liverpool we might not have been in the situation we were for the last 15/16 years.

 

And as Stuart himself said lately. Many other clubs going down the same route

He was very good the year we stayed up in the PL.

That hardly means it a good model, there are some who will perform better within that model lets hope we are one of them, where as we knew under the old model "were skint but we will give Phil Parkinson every possible chance to take us forward" also worked.

Abbott said manager:coach will have a say then Edin.

See that's not how clubs work. Edin knows nothing about football. Leave to the manager, recruitment team(unfortunately for us it's Abbott who is just a Yes man).

Thing is we haven't a coach or manager as yet, linked with horse shi&e of managers and let's be honest seems that many top managers are interested in taking the job.

Edin fantasy football done of a 5 year olds pocket money isn't going to attract decent managers.

I don’t disagree Rahic hasn’t filled anyone with confidence. But to suggest Abbo is a yes man. Tripe.

 

If you were head of recruitment, would you want to know what your budget is?

Abbo has confirmed he doesn't know what the budget is. That's worrying.

What worries me about this model of head coaches coaching players signed for them is, the people signing the players necessarily need to be better at that job than ALL OTHER potential candidates. That's possible at some clubs, even probable at others. Resources play a large part in that. (Isn't the idea to let coaches coach and not trawl endless lists of available and potential signings? I'm not sure we have that problem regards the sheer number of quality and available players...)

But what that means is, if Edin and Abbott are having a significant say in player recruitment, then they need to be better at it than, say, Parkinson and Grayson.

If they are not better than Parkinson and Grayson, then they are effectively negative equity as far as our potential is concerned.

And I guarantee you one thing right now...

Edin Rahic and Greg Abbott are not as good at recruiting players as Parkinson and Grayson.

So why are we even doing it?

 

Agree. That’s why I say Rahic doesn’t fill me with confidence. In fact I would prefer he wasn’t involved at all but that isn’t happening.
My point is Abbo was a battler on the pitch. I remember some of his ‘tackles’ and a battler off it. To suggest he would Agree to everything Rahic Proposes i find laughable.

 

Maybe the head coach has more time and is better at getting the best from individuals and development
