I think that’s right managers who feel under pressure for results won’t risk young players but this is a mid to long term project.

It did say results first, then development. I first part is the most important.

I suppose if the new man comes in, narrowly misses out on promotion but unearths a couple of million pound players then all should be well? That would probably help us the following season anyway...

Appears to have being lined up for MK Dons job for a couple of weeks now.
Gut feeling, think he looks more comfortable at a smaller club.

It's an absolute "no brainer" now is this ! ?? Feckingbottom literally ticks every box with the Bratwurst Bros. He would work very well with the "German model ". He is the next manager of Bradford City !

You say Barnsley were struggling under him, yet Leeds came in and took a punt on him, so they must have thought he was doing a good job, or saw potential in him to do a job for them.
I hope, assuming Warburton not in the running, that we go for Hecky

If as stated in the article several meetings have taken place then the perspective candidate's will be up to speed with the ongoing recruitment process and will be fully aware of further signings lined up.
Perhaps they have already had a minor input.
In that knowledge alone that would I assume have been enough for either coach to walk away if they were not happy at this point in time.

Or he comes in, unearths a couple more Poleons and we narrowly miss out on staying up. It’s a laudable approach but if it was that easy every other club would be doing it, but of course they’re all wrong and Edin is right.

I reckon at least one of these will be a German coach, Hannes Drews, a name that keeps popping up

If they are talking about mid to long term, do you think they will offer the new coach a 4/5 year contract? Surely this would also give the coach time to develop the players and the style of play throughout all the teams in the club.

“We have to find someone willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.”

That's good. But you should probay start doing it yourself first, Edin.

Possibly I suppose it's not beyond the realms seeing the overall requirement's for the position.
If a German coach as applied then he's either over here whilst the recruitment process continues or talks have taken place via video conferencing after an initial meeting in the UK.

Brought in club legend as manager
Brought in fan favourite as head scout
    Created a development squad
    Spent £1m on transfers
    Brought in accomplished L1 manager
    Kept season tickets affordable

Now not all of that worked out as planned but Rahic is certainly walking the walk.

So exactly are the runners and riders still left in this Grand National of a manager search ?

Paul Heckinbottom - new entry, little form but from a good stock
Grant McCann - seems to be veering off course towards south Yorkshire
Mark Warburton - interest seems to have gone a bit dead, the red rum of the race who can only win at one track ?
Martin Drury - Fell at the first fence but no-one told Billy Hills
Hannes Wolf - romped off into the distance, threw his rider and kept going
Uwe Rosler - the nasty smell that won't go away, stuck in the stalls dropping donkey
David Hopkin - only experience is in the Scottish national, far far below the standard required.

Something tells me that there are two things going on here, but what's lacking is an "Irish Gray"

    1. It's none of the above and a shock appointment could be on the cards once an exit package is negotiated from the current club hence the delays or when he gets what he wants in terms of assurances (Mick McCarthy - the missing Irish Grey ??)
    2. We've run out of genuine candidates and it's none of the above because on Monday we are going to unveil Abbott as Head Coach with Rahic as DOF

What ever it is we are signing players and that could be a sign that we have someone lined up and these are being signed with his approval, or that our DOF hasn't learned a single lesson and is going ahead irrespective of who the manager is.

Could the fact we are signing players be a problem in that any new coach sees this and thinks I want no part of a club that won't consult me on recruitment ??

or 3. It's a rookie looking for his first job in management and R&R are being extra cautious by meeting with them numerous times to make sure they can walk the walk they want them to walk. Remember Craig Bellamy expressed his interest when McCall was sacked, maybe he (or another rookie) has applied again this time?

That's not a great list. Walking the walk is backing up talk with action and doing it successfully. I don't remember when they mentioned wanting a fans favourite as head scout, wanting to spunk money on transfer fees or bring in an accomplished league 1 manager. That makes half of your list automatically irrelevant. They can't walk the walk if they didn't talk the talk in the first place. They did however mention wanting a development squad but they are yet to achieve their main objective with it so that can't be classed as a success (yet).

That leaves us with 2. They wanted a manager who knows the club well and brought in a club legend and they mentioned how they wanted to keep football affordable and have done so. That's not exactly a great track record of someone "walking the walk" when there are far more examples of him doing the exact opposite.
