Everyone critical of GB yesterday because he had no GK cover and was scrabbling about trying to get one in. Signs one today and it's still not good enough because we have too many loans and somehow it makes Hornby a poor signing, The poor guy can't win.

 

Yes, we've signed the nickname on loan from Port Vale until the end of the season

 

I'd send Palmer back and keep the nickname.

 

As a side point we could have had the first choice pompey keeper for next to nothing a few years back.

We had him on trial from harrogate and he played in a friendly but ended up at walsall

 

Think Sykes-Kenworthy needs to be sent out on loan once OD gets fit again. Obviously not up to the task of first team keeper. I've read good things about him, but he should now be pushing for a starting spot somewhere if he wants to kick on with his career.

 

I remember plenty wanted him installed as immediate number 1 without even seeing him play. I wonder (apart from @Ricc) if they still feel the same?

 

Looks like Sam Hornby is yet another poor signing by GB then.

Pop him on the list and file under Longridge.

Are you assuming because he's out on loan he's no good, or Bowyer doesn't rate him?

Think it's more the fact that from day one Hornby said he wanted to play, but with ROD in strong form, that wasn't going to happen barring injury.

By the time he'd gone on an extended loan, so he could get game time, we could no longer recall him once ROD got injured.

Put it this way, as long as we're saving his wage then I've a lot more respect for Hornby insisting he plays football than some keepers happy to sit on the bench or in the stand.

Outstanding shot stopper. Doesn't really command his area particularly well and that's the reason we ended up signing Craig McGillivray last season who has been really good. McGee made a couple of errors just before we signed him which didn't help, but I'd say he could be a really good signing in Lge 2
only reason we're letting him go is we have a really good young keeper in Alex Bass, and McGee's contract is up in the summer so will need the chance to earn himself a deal somewhere

I assumed he looked at Wiki and it hadn't been updated, but even that suggests he played quite a bit for Portsmouth, so I have no idea what source is even more out of date than that!

I can't see that. Isn't it extremely common to have recall options on goalkeepers? Especially one who was supposedly second choice and just went on loan for match sharpness?
