Let's hope the goal from Stanway turns out to be the winner what a cracking strike.

Tbh I didn’t expect much from theses games but have enjoyed watching the effort and skill, the professionalism and team ethic, it’s been good stuff to watch from England and it’s a breath of fresh air.
Exciting/entertaining football doesn’t always have to be the ultimate highest quality, there are so many other factors that go into an enjoyable football match.Jayteebee, Get Rid Of It, Offcomedun and 3 others like this. -

The English women's team has just won the women's European championship. The English men's team has won nothing at all for 56 years.Damo, Bronco, Allotment Bantam and 3 others like this. -
I have been enjoying the football at the World Cup. Great win for the lionesses. Roll on Sunday

it was lovely seeing all the families there and the kids smiling and having a good time and chanting, it will take off on the back of this if England win.RCarol, Bantamsteve, Allotment Bantam and 2 others like this. -
As I'm patriotic and its the knock out stages I'm watching the England ladies. You know what. This is a proper game. Nothing like the group games. They are knocking lumps out of each other!

A fuss about nothing, but sadly reflective of the world we live him. Good on him for not apologising, he has nothing to apolgise for.

Stunning goal from Russo. A natural. You can't coach that.

Watched in slow motion you could say that the keeper should have saved Russo's goal but I think that makes light of the skill involved in scoring it.
Russo had just had a shot saved. She then had the athleticism to hold off a solid shoulder charge, the speed of thought to see an opportunity that barely existed and the ability to execute it.
The keeper was taken completely by surprise, as was everyone else watching.Damo, Offcomedun, SelbyFan and 1 other person like this. -

Seems like Graeme Souness can't make an honest assessment/comment with regards Sunday London derby, I completely agreed with his comment "It's a man's game all of a sudden again," he wasn't berating the woman's game just giving his opinion on that yesterdays game was all about, allowing the game to continue when the referee thought there was no need to stop the game a cracking blood and thunder London derby.
Like it or not ladies women's football can't compare to the men's game I've said during the UEFA Women's Championship recently it was a breath of fresh air, very little faking injury respecting the referees decision and getting on with the game rather than time wasting but as a spectacle no contest IMO.

I think the problem is that people can't help but compare it to the men's game. When you do that Women's football is slower, less skilful, less powerful, but that's biology. The goalkeeping is poor in comparison to the mens game, as is the defending. The game's don't really flow as well as the mens game, etc. but why compare it?
As a stand alone, it's alright. You need to take it for what it is, women's football, it's not men's football, it's different.Keefly Bantam, Welshbantam, Offcomedun and 1 other person like this. -

I still can't get into it.
It kind of reminds me of watching an academy game, like under 16s. It's clear the skill is there, but the power and speed is lacking, it's missing something.Interested Bystander, Sergio Pinto III and Kevin1954 like this. -

People need to realise the history of women's football, for 50 years it was banned in this country. If that ban was in place there would be no 1966 World Cup winners. It is growing year on year, unfortunately the investment that we've seen in this country hasn't been replicated in other countries but hopefully this tournament will encourage more countries to invest. Some of the attendances they've got at these Euros would have been unthinkable 10-20 years ago. As more opportunities arise more young girls will see a path to becoming a full time footballer that players like Beth Mead wouldn't have had 17 years ago when she signed for Middlesbrough.
