I think you will find they aren’t from the beginning of the cheap ticket deals. Maybe from the peak

I’m with you Bronco. Looking at the table, as poor as we are, I don’t believe the likes of Port Vale, Colchester and Northampton are any better than us.

That said, the January transfer window was as bad as anything we’ve seen before. I don’t think folk realise how much the loss of Vaughan will affect us. Had we simply replaced Doyle with Novak and signed a quality workhorse for the middle of the park, I’d have been happier.

I just don’t see where the goals will come from.

Yep in the position we were in we really needed to address our problems in the window but in fact we’ve weakened ourself. I’d love to know what they thought they were doing. What was the ostensible rationale?

Well In recent weeks, the likes of Mansfield, Oldham, Cambridge and Newport have beaten us and therefore are better than us. We have zero chance of beating any of the current top 7.

    Play off hadn't though.

Rhodes did this before with Windasss.

The man just laughs in the faces of fans.

    Our season is over now.

I know that normally im a bit happy clapper and try and look for positives but i do think this season is over. If McCall was appointed at the start of the window instead of the end i think we would have had a better chance, but none of these players really suit McCalls style of play... So summer window is needed. Im genuinely glad we have to potential to get rid of 20 players if need be.

If he was appointed at the end of the window it wouldn't even be so bad. Like, one single day to do some work.

    But nope.

Once again, window shuts, manager sacked.

Makes you wonder if Rhodes wanted to get rid of Bowyer, but couldn't quite convince the man with the money in time - because previously it was Rahic overseeing the same thing as Rhodes - making changes too late.

My optimism has totally evaporated for this season. I know it only takes a couple of wins on the bounce to perhaps put us back with a shout, but cannot see it happening.

Most of this squad looked resigned to missing out on play offs and a lot of them know they wont be here anyhow next season

McCall already planning on next seasons recruitment with Rhodes apparently. Despite many been out of contract, not an easy rebuild due to the lopsided balance of who will still be in contract, for example all 4 centre backs and the likes of Novak and Guthrie up front

It will be interesting to see what sort of response there is from McCall telling the players to forget about any talk of the playoffs. Will they take him at his word and just go through the motions until the end of the season, or will they want to prove him wrong? I've a feeling it will be the former but I can see why he's giving a bit of reverse psychology a go.

Problem is mate these are football players and they can see what Rhodes has done.

The likes of Reeves will be like you have taken Doyle and Vaughan away and replaced them with Novak and Guthrie! So, matter what you say boss the club has given up!

I don't think it matters jot what McCall says now the season is done. Thanks Rhodes!

Just changed my vote from we can still do it to season over, completely deflated after that Newport game.

I've got my hopes for City to still go up, we aren't far off the play-offs and even if we don't this season it'll be the next for sure.

If McCall had come in prior to the window there would be no excuses for this season.

Bringing him in when they did means he gets a free pass this season and, I presume the plan is, to build for promotion next season. We may have also lucked out and got up this season but that would have been an unexpected bonus.

Imagine if McCall had come in before the window brought in his own players and we had still not made the play offs who could we blame then?

it may be that the timing, post window, is shrewd move by Rhodes.

Only you (well maybe Norm & brisban) could have come up with that sort of comment, are you seriously suggesting in one transfer window (January being notoriously on the side of selling clubs) anyone never mined McCall could have brought enough quality in to change anything to guarantee a play off place.
You really do have a problem with Stuart McCall don't you.

Less a shrewd move imo, more a very cynical one by JR. The appointment of SMc at this time, just after the transfer window closed and after Bowyer had done JR's dirty work for him suggests a decision made for commercial reasons to sell more seats next season and reduce costs than for footballing reasons.

All pure conjecture I'm afraid. A combination of factors over 2 1/2 seasons have lead us to this point. No manager would have made a difference, the rot is too ingrained. Bowyers signings didn't help but he too was somewhat hampered by previous goings on that left him with little budget to work with.
A large clearout in the summer and another rebuild. Unless plans from above have a clear and concise strategy built in then its another season of hit and hope, albeit without most of the baggage and wastes of oxygen like Robinson et al.

I picked the bottom option, my moral with the club is down there as it was at the start of last decade under Jacks and Taylor. I’ll renew next year out of habit, and hope but at this moment in time I can’t think of a single good thing at this club.

If someone said we’ll be playing good football next season and challenging for the title, like a Swindon or Exeter but you’ll have to pay £400 for your season ticket I’d be down there after work today to buy one. As it is I’ll be waiting until the last minute and I can be bothered to go down and sort it.

The January window was the final straw for me with the guys at the top. I don’t blame Bowyer for losing two of if not the best two strikers in this league, it’s on Rhodes and Rupp, the replacements tell you all you need to know. Now we’re stuck with 3 non goal scoring target men for the rest of the season, and that’s why I don’t give us a hope of making the playoffs even if we are only effectively 5 points behind with goal difference.

You either back or sack your manager we did neither then sacked him just after the window, in my opinion it was a deliberate and snide tactic to cut costs and it happened exactly the same 2 seasons ago under the same owner.

I can’t be arsed with Saturday but I’ll be there for the social aspect, but if we get anything I’ll be surprised.
