Yes but I hope we buy better than the 12 that are left. I want him to buy his first team with subs.

Very similar to my mind set. The only thing I may differ from is the renewal of a season ticket. I have given up before and stopped going. I'm at that point. My son wants to continue which may be the deciding factor.

It's very depressing, very cynical on the part of the club and as one who did not advocate the return of McCall, the probable bumpy Road may well continue amongst our fickle fans, who may well use heart instead of head in making a considered appraisal.

I'll wait & see before deciding, I've said I wouldn't buy an ST for Div4 and I've not missed anything, but SmC returning has changed things. If we quickly let players go (like most of them) and I see "footballers" arriving suggesting that I might see good football and be entertained then I'll probably go for it.

My lad probably has two seasons left before he heads to university. Then I'll probably just take in the odd game when he comes back home in the holidays. I've enjoyed the 7 or 8 season I've been watching with him but the club is no different now to when we started going together.

And actually I wasn’t suggesting that in one window it could be completely sorted.

I was saying that at this point McCall has a built in excuse through to the end of this season. If he had made significant changes in January then some of this season would belong to him. It still should but it won’t (see above built in excuse)

I was saying that it may well have been a cynical move by Rhodes to ensure that none of this seasons ‘muck’ sticks to the new (ahem) manager.

Do you really expect me to believe that Rhodes and Rupp didn’t think that through? They are not capable of that level of cynicism?

Well there I was thinking they were businessmen where cynical moves and cynical timing are part of the MO.

Finally. I am open about my reasons for thinking the McCall appointment to be a poor one.

Putting emotion aside. Why do you believe that McCalls overall managerial record is a basis for a third go?

I will be buying my season ticket next weekend I would never consider not buying one whilst I am able. It’s periods like we are enduring now that make the promotions the cup runs and the trips to a Wembley more special. Those times will return hopefully soon.

I do admire your unwavering support Park, not sure on the logic that the more shit we become the more special the rare moments of success are. Judging by that I bet Sheffield Utd fans can't wait to drop back down to league 1.

Not devotion at all it's called giving the new man a chance, unfortunately the new man is Stuart McCall and you seem to have an agenda.

I bet Sheffield United are revelling in their success after a poor period for them. Just as Sunderland will if they return to the championship. As you point out our successes have been rare but when they come they are something special. Of course we would all like those to happen more regularly but would we start taking them for granted as some clubs do. As it is it’s our club through thick and thin

I’m concerned about McCall’s ability to build a squad, especially now he doesn’t have the benefit of someone who “knows football” in his corner.

On a serious though, this is farcical:

*Signing players just because he or an associate knows them, including the goalkeeper coach who also had a say in recruitment.

    *Trusting Greg Abbott’s judgement.

*Signing a striker partly because of his celebration when a goal went in. I mean how is that even remotely relevant? How does it pop up in a discussion when discussing a player’s credentials? It gets even worse by the fact he knew he had a poor goal scoring record but signed him up anyway.

For all of McCall’s strengths as a manager I don’t think recruitment is one them. Time to invest in a proper scouting network because at the moment our recruitment doesn’t seem to extend beyond signing players our manager’s have previously worked with. Bowyer was exactly the same and they weren’t exactly good players either.

Makes me feel sick thinking back to that 3-3 game, one of the best league games I’ve witnessed and I saw the promotion to and stay in the premier league. Something about that game, the atmosphere, the competition the drama. Them games are worth £25 for 90 minutes, but then when you see a game against Forest Green at the same price it feels a ridiculous.

We were above them at the time and should have won had Hiwula converted a sitter and not hit the bars from 4 yards out. The contrast between the clubs now is embarrassing.

Hard to disagree, his second season in his first spell proves it when he was given the highest budget in the league. Let’s hope he’s learnt a lot from them days, but I’ve always rated McCall the coach more than the manager. Hope he proves me wrong.

    Deflection, deflection, deflection.

half arsed answer swiftly followed by the ‘deflection’ card.

Normally you are better than this.

Leads me to deduce that you too are struggling to justify the appointment if McCall for a third time.

No emotion in it, as a player he was IMO the man who represented everything good with regards Bradford City both on and off the pitch.
Stuart would not have originally been my first choice for the new manager without him being an applicant for the job how long would shifting through the candidates take.
I do believe as a quick fix he was the one who could possibly turn our form/performances/points return around, as I've said previously he is Mr Bradford City he knows the club inside out on both the footballing side and non footballing side. Of course him coming back and being a success this season would have given the club a better chance of getting more bums on seats, without a doubt, unfortunately his recent talk is we fans need to stop talking about the possibility of a Wembley appearance and that is so unlike the Stuart McCall we all know, as long as it's mathematically possible I would be hoping every one involved on the footballing side would be bursting a gut to get a play off place.

"Do you really expect me to believe that Rhodes and Rupp didn’t think that through? They are not capable of that level of cynicism?" we will never know but if you quote it enough I'm sure some on here will believe it's true.
I believe we have Stuart on an 18 month contract which suggests to me that is the time he has to get our club out of this khazi league, as I say I'm a little disappointed we seem to have given up on this season.

Stuart not given up on anything. His comments aren't about that. He's trying to get everyone to focus on the here and now and forget about something way off in the future.

Not at all from day one you and a couple of others have not given him a chance to turn our fortunes around, if it had been anyone bar McCall you would not have posted as you did FACT, I understand his first spell here he could not bring us what we all wanted a Stuart McCall promotion.
I'll argue his second spell was curtailed too early because of one individual, even after he lost many of the squad that got us to the Wembley play off he had us in the top 6 or there about's until Mr Egotistical got his wish of the first poor run and got rid, who knows with a decent January window it might have been turned around as Phil Parkinson did with the faith Julian & Mark put in him, so although you will disagree we'll never know if just what the out come would have been given a few more games.

I know we're not blessed with patience on here but you're bemoaning the fact that we can't get shot of two that only signed 4 weeks ago. Guthrie's barely had chance to lace his boots up yet. I know he's not the most inspiring of signings but I do think he deserves a bit of a chance.

Excuse me for wanting better options up front. The fact remains we will have at least 2 target type men up front, possibly 3 if Donaldon exercises his right to further year extension. There is the possibility of Vaughan returning, so doesnt leave much room for maneouvre up front for McCall to bring in his own type in does it?

People have written Guthrie of after one game. He scored 16 last season which is considerably more than any current player will score for us this season. Let’s at least give him a chance
