Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas, stupid decision considering around that time we’d recently benefited from the previous rules.

As a coach in grassroots football I remember the EPPP, the idea was to encourage the best English talent to be in the Premiership. Saw through it straight away as just another way for PL clubs to hoover up potential talent at minimum cost. Again to the detriment of lower league clubs. They want their cake and eat it and then three more slices as well!! I seem to recall that Lincoln or Grimsby basically packed their academies in within months saying it wasn't good value. Think Crewe thought about it as well.

    Great analysis.

Your basing us not moving forward after just being relegated. The change since Edin left is huge and its obviously going to take a while to see the benefits - even you, a business man, must realise that. On the pitch its moving in the right direction, seems it off it too but I'd still like supporters group(s) to be more involved and more vocal about what's going on rather than just these meetings with WOTP etc.

Colchester were one of the first lower league clubs (if not the first) to improve their academy to Cat 2 after EPPP was introduced and as you say, it costs the owners a lot of money each season for that privilege. They lost Cat 2 in one season but then regained it the following year but there is a huge commitment to maintaining it at that level. It's a big gamble from the owners and well done to them but I'm not convinced that having seen a list of the academy graduates that the benefits get anywhere near the investment the Colchester owners have made.

At the other extreme is Brentford who already had a Cat 2 academy which was costing them nearly £2m each season to run. They closed it 4 or 5 years ago because of fears that London PL clubs would simply poach their youth players under EPPP and they'd receive a pittance in return. Brentford changed its strategy, reduced its costs and went down the 'cast off' route for slightly older players hoping they could find an unclaimed jewel (sounds familiar!). I'm not aware whether they've yet had any success.

I thought we also got some money for Niall Heaton who went to Liverpool as a youngster.

They have done a remarkable job on that thanks in part to being bankrolled in the Championship by their owner. They still make enormous losses despite their success in the player transfers although Benham has said that the plan is to become self-sustaining in the near future.

What Benham has done along with Rasmus Ankersen is to use the 'moneyball' approach to find and develop players using statistics and analytics. Apparently that approach is widely used in sport in America, particularly baseball and NFL to identify under-valued players cast-off by their previous clubs. Benham and Ankersen also own a Danish club which won their superliga a few years ago and qualified for the Europa league supposedly on the back of the moneyball approach. I suspect there'll be other owners looking at the moneyball approach in English football.

    BANTAMS SMALL TALK

After attending another fans media meeting on Monday 14th October 2019. Several things were discussed.

This included the ongoing and recent usage of smoke bombs. That the vast majority of our fans do not want. This is putting our club to shame and risking fines and punishments that are not needed. Those who use or condone them by saying no pyro no party and those not in favour are boring. Well were not boring they are dangerous and hazardous and can cause severe problems for people. Especially those with medical issues The club is rightly working hard with police to capture those responsible. Flares or smoke bombs are dangerous when used inappropriate way. Action will be taken at against those responsible at some stage, despite some saying nothing will happen. Yes the same fans help and create a great atmosphere. Which is great However this can be done with out the use of flares and such iteams.

It was also discussed that Julian has spent cash on players to build depth to our squad. Whilst at the same time our club is on a safe financial footing. We have 1 of the best budgets in the league.

Our players are very happy at the club once again. They want to be here and play for there shirt. They say moral and the feeling is great. They cant understand how it felt like it did last season. The club are making a step forward gradually and will continue to do so in the right and best way forward.

Despite work and other restrictions I am delighted to help the club do this both on and off the pitch when able to. So lets keep on supporting this magnificent club. Whilst stopping things that bring shame on our club. Together we can stop this.

    Well that was lame as!

Ryan should work in politics as he batted away a number of questions. Seemed a pointless meeting.

Why not ask questions like? Is Mr Rupp looking to sell because clearly he doesn't want to put his hand in his pocket to build a foundation for the club?

Are the club looking to buying their own training ground?

What happens if the club doesn't go up this year?

Like the idea of chasing the Championship and that where we should be but I do find WOAP in general pretty safe. Acting like ex Man Utd players that don't hammer the club because always looking for a free ticket.

Asking about Cooke is pointless as he's on a years loan.

What happened in the Parky days? Parky was successful on the pitch with his team.

I'm not convinced at all Bowyer wanted Drury.. nothing will change my mind on this. I think it's because Drury has about 2 years on his contract that he's still here as a number 2.

Look, for me Rhodes and Rupp need to up their game. Hopefully we will be sold soon enough.

    Well Drury is still here.

Rupp, the fans, the media all have to take blame also.

The media and fans seems to be still pu&sying around the club it seems also.

Suppose on the pitch it's going well, so as fans that's mostly what we care about.

Why would we go bust? Owner buys it.

About 5-15m for a training ground.

    New stadium.

You buy assets to sell if anything happens and you need cash. You buy assets to protect yourself in the future. Do you think people just buy extra property for the laugh?

Our owner is worth 150m euros is he not?

Look, the club needs to do more off the pitch to generate more income that is clear.

We run a steady ship but this is football and steady away gets you nowhere.

This club is failing in league 2! Failing badly!

    It protects the club.

    The club has no ASSETS!

You can generate money through naming rights of the training ground etc.

I don't see the owner being here for the long term and I feel he will sell shortly.

I just see the club as a soft touch. A club for the mates.

I see Bradford in general as that also if I am honest. Money is their to be be made but you need to be ruthless. Stop trying to people please and being scared!

The questions asked regarding the end of the current lease at Valley Parade are interesting. I’m presuming by the time the lease is up that reports have been done into the projected maintenance costs that would clearly be incurred when signing up to a new long term lease. Tying us down for another 25 years is a big commitmemt in what will be a stadium where nearly all the infrastructure will be over 25 years old. I’m not advocating a move per se but i would hope this will come into the discussions when negotiating future rent demands.

Do you not think they've already up't their game?

Find it funny that even though they answer about Drury has been answered you still don't believe it.

I haven’t seen the finances but I’d guess by the end of the current lease we’ll have already paid more than the place is worth. So I’d hope we wouldn’t sign a new lease as it would just be short term thinking again. We should really be thinking about this now really, either a long term plan to buy the place or relocate.

It would be interesting to hear who's idea that was, great if we bring a kid in and we develop him and sell him on as we have in the past with Delph, Wisdom, Cleverly etc, but we should not be using money that might help Bowyer do his job in getting us out of this khazi league.

The problem City have is renting the ground and
training facilities stunts growth as a business.Profit
= Success providing it's a big enough one.

IMO the club should of had some strategy in place
to get to a financial position to be able to buy the
    ground back.
