Your posts can be very good at times. This is one of them.

So back to the here and now... Nolan installed as manager, we inevitably whimper to relegation and win the odd game. You good with that?

    First of all thanks.

    Yes, I would take that.

Look, I hope we will stay up and I want us to stay up(we all do) but after yesterday's and Walsall shambles it's hard to see how at this minute but we've a chance.

Our squad is too unbalanced- Ball, OB and Payne in midfield. Ball should be up top or on the bench.

We need a manager that's can understand our players and get them ticking.

Think it's unfair no matter if it's Nolan, Bowyer, Evans, Kewell or me to expect them to keep us up but let's try.

You look at players who were noted for being strong characters on the pitch with a bit of steely determination and lead by example.

Nolan has that for me.Whether he is tactically good remains to be seen but he will
have all his coaching badges so with a good assistant they could do a job for us.

Nolan isn't Ronaldo mate come on, he's just another journeyman. He's achieved nothing in his management career and failed in the division below. I really can't see the appeal.

CV are little pointless. I find them boring and pointless when looking for staff myself. What someone did for someone else doesn't matter. I don't see the appeal in Bowyer myself.

Barton is a little journey man but doing well at Fleetwood.

As I say it's about the players. These players need someone to look up too and respect. He will gain that straight away.

If in your world nearly 500 appearances in the PL and 50 goals from midfield counts as a journeyman then fair enough.

    To be honest.

Right now our players need a prick to deal with.

This nice, nice club needs to stop

Well this game is all about opinions at the end of the day. Out of that list only Hurst comes close in my opinion.

Appleton finished 2nd and won promotion from league 2 with Oxford, along with two successive JPT finals at Wembley. Also plays good football.

Bowyer, promotion winner from league 2 with Blackpool.

Hurst, multiple promotions, albeit in non league but he knows how to win. He saved Shrewsbury from relegation when he first went in there and got them to a playoff final and checkatrade trophy final on a shoestring.

You can only judge someone on their past career, I'm sure Julian has enough knowledge to sort the chaff from the wheat both he and Mark made a great appointment with regards Patkinson his CV was hit and miss but they picked something out from Parkinson's intreview that others didn't offer.
Your Joey Barton comment is more to do with Andrew Pilkey and his financial clout that he brings to Fleetwood, the likes of Madden, Evans, McAleny who we tried to sign when Everton let him go after his spell at Oxford.
I agree with your respecting the manager comment, Hopkin should have carried enough respect from our squad yet he had to seperate certain players from others to make a point.
I'm sure Nolan is a nice genuine guy but this appointment as Bradford City manager at this time is IMO the wrong one.

So you're basing it on promotions mainly?

Bowyer had an 180k forward and one of the best forward line up's div 2 has seen.

Appleton - maybe and Hurst maybe.

I'm not fully against Bowyer but he's just not exciting me.

    Why?

What makes Bowyer the right one?

You said it yourself it's about the interview. If Nolan or whoever impresses the board then they get the job.

Yes absolutely I'm basing it on promotions, because that's exactly what we need in league 2. Why settle for someone like Nolan who's only experienced failure as a manager, when we can go for proven winners? Obviously there's no guarantee it'll pay off, but for me it will give us the best chance.

    Fair enough mate.

All depends on the interview and the future vision of this club for me.

    We need our identity back!

If you think we will go straight back up then back season might be more painful for you than this. I am hoping we still stay up myself and if we get a manager that the players will automatically respect then we stand a chance.

Well Nolan wasn’t watching City at Portsmouth yesterday afternoon as he was summarising at the West Ham V Newcastle United match yesterday.

Did anyone spot, any of the prospective managers at the Portsmouth game?

    Bowyer wasn't there either.

Maybe interviews taking place today or tomorrow
