    Reading that I cant see McDonald being available for Crawley even on the bench, it will be an interesting call from Hughes.

    Not the best start.

    We badly needed Clayton, and this is his replacement. Hopefully our attacking midfielders can cover for him in his absence.

    Agreed. I can't see him being ready for league action for a couple of weeks at best. But at least he's getting closer.

    Nope, but we knew of his injury upon signing him. When fit - and assuming he can stay fit - McDonald will be an upgrade on Clayton. Only time will tell of course.

    Hopefully McDonald is a Gary Jones type of player/character.

    Older, experienced head yet still a superior skillset and mindset on the pitch.

    I look forward to seeing him in action. If he’s as influential as Hughes predicts, then the disappointing Rochdale result will be a long and distant memory.
