Good evening everyone. Sorry for coming back to you so late but I had a long trip the last days. First of all, I would like to say thank you to Bradford City for the exciting year. From the first day, I already felt like you, the fans, did stand behind me. I was fascinated from the first day how you love this club and what passion you bring every week to the stadium! That is what will stay in my mind forever... Great memories!! Thank you... I cannot say it enough. I will continue to be a huge fan of Bradford City and for sure one day come back to visit the club. I wish my old teammates the best of all you were my family in England Thanks for everything! @BCAFC

It's completely unsurprising. In reality, he was never really cut-out for it. However, he was one of the very few players I remember giving his all, even when we were at our worst, and you can't really fault him for that. Certainly the right thing to do, but I can't help feel a little gutted by this. Cult hero.

Strange, considering his(non)scoring record for us but I was a little bit sad when I learned of his departure from the club.
Maybe it's our natural leaning to support the underdog that made me hope against hope that he could have made it with us?
Best of luck Kai.SJBantam, RCarol, Halifax Bantam and 11 others like this. -

I've just read the full announcement. Judging from his words he has loved his experience here. I am pleased to hear that he is moving on to another opportunity with a German team rather than just being released. I know I'm a saddo but I will probably look out for his results!

He was living the dream and showed it every time he went on the pitch.
His attitude was excellent and to read the majority of posts wishing him well, is heartwarming.
Good luck for the future Kai.Old city man, JudgeMental, bcfc2015 and 7 others like this. -
I know he wasn't good enough but I'm still really sad to see him go. Loved his attitude and wish him all the best.

Nothing personal, but I’m glad he’s gone.
Hopkin is taking a ruthless approach to weeding out the players who aren’t good enough. I like the way he’s going about things. He’s the perfect manager for this club and he’ll take us forward. I hope we back him with some ambitious funding. He could take this club forward in a very big way.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... I'm with BoingBoing.
Just don't get why so many are sad to see him go.
Yes the lad was a trier, but nowhere near good enough to play league football in England. One half decent game in all the time he was here, other than that, there was little evidence of any improvement in the time he was here.
So, whilst I wish him all the best with his career back in Germany, I'm certainly not sad to see him go. If Payne leaves this month, then I will be sadWilsdenBantam, The Evidence, bantamdave41 and 5 others like this. -
Kai's attitude and dignity puts the likes of Wright and Riley to shame. Good luck mein freund.

I am sad to see Big Kai go, but unfortunately he is not up to scratch in this league, do hope this shows we have a replacement on the way.

Never really anywhere near good enough but genuinely loved the guys attitude and personality - shame he didn’t get his goal in front of the Kop the other week! Good luck.

Interesting to see that Kai's signed for Grossaspach -- they're just up the autobahn for me. I went there to take a look at Anton Fink when we were rumoured to be signing him from Chemnitz a couple of years back. Think I'll pop up to Grossaspach sometime to see how Kai's getting on.

I’m gutted. Out of all the players that were not in first 11 he was the one I hoped would stay. He is always on the bench and came on a lot which would say he was above others in Hopkin’s thoughts.
Hope he does well where ever he goes.
Hopefully we can get shut of some of those that haven’t put the work in that he did.Nick_W_, TallinnBantam, Hulmebantam and 3 others like this. -
Makes it even more laughable that Hanson got the shit he did despite being Ronaldo in comparison to Kai.

Great news, wish Kai all the best and thanks for his efforts, but I'm thrilled to see Hopkin getting rid of the dead wood in the squad.
