Because the AMG GT Roadster only has two seats, not enough room for you all.

Yes mate. Didn’t have a great season and got frustrated often, but he did try, often out of ‘position’

Read 'No Hunger in Paradise' by Michael Calvin. If that doesn't get you trying to steer your grandkids in another direction, then nothing will. It's an incredibly brutal environment for fragile egos and minds.

Speaking as someone with a family member in an academy and a scholarship to a private school, it's very tricky. Nobody wants to crush a kid's dreams, but it's also not advisable to allow them to think they'll become a pro so that factors like school/exams aren't of the utmost importance. I've been trying for a middle ground, trying to highlight that a job in football that doesn't involve playing, like coaching or as a physio or in the media, could be achievable if they go as far as they can with playing football but also do well academically. Whether it's hitting home or not we'll have to wait and see.

I think if I knew what academy football entailed when he was signed up at 7. I may have decided against him going, even if he could go to a private school with ten pupils to a class. I think they play far too much football (I'd be surprised if he doesn't need two new knees by the time he's in his twenties) and it's also quite isolating (he has very few friends where he lives as he's constantly here, there and everywhere playing football).

Jim Jefferies once told me that he was bullying David Hopkin when Hopkin played for us. Hopkin was on good money, suffering from injuries and making little to no effort to get back. He was happy with his lot. Jefferies wanted him off the wage bill and rid of his poor attitude. Hopkin made it clear he was going nowhere,. Hence the bullying. Jefferies treatment of Hopkin wore him out, Hopkin caved and rejoined Palace. An example for Hopkin the manager to use the other way around albeit in a more difficult era. There are various ways to drive a player out of a club. Blatant bullying may cost a manager his job and players not in favour are well aware of that.

    Spot on
It doesn't change as they get older either 3 and 4 games a week in some cases
Young growing bones need time to develop without the constant pounding playing involves
You do right to encourage him in other positions within the game as well as chasing the dream studying and becoming a physio is a good move
Good physios will always be in demand in or out of the game

A good summary. Now perhaps rather than criticising Managers, he could find his son a club which has a gentle nurturing manager, who will help to develop Jordan’s talent (because it is absolutely nothing about his son, having ‘issues’ in respect of his performances, being sub standard).

One of my nephews was signed by a Scottish Premiership club, when he was at Primary School. They then had issues and he moved onto the local Scottish Championship Club, before a further move to a Scottish League Two side. He eventually decided enough was enough and has become totally disillusioned. He is now in his early 20’s occasionally plays five a side! One of the issues at the second club, was that the Junior’s had a coach who had several family members playing and other rightly or wrongly, favoured them!

I think certain members of the squad attitudes help themselves be alienated and will have undermined the manager. The ones he alienated were poor and contributed to our relegation. None of them were game changers or showed they could be.

Maybe some common sense should have prevailed. The players he alienated were on good money and had only recently signed those deals. They were not going to walk away after 5 months because Hopkin didn’t like them.

I’m not defending them as they have all proved they are not good enough for other managers but it was poor management from Hopkin.
