Super reliable? Lack of game time is the first parameter I concluded upon. 157 games in 11 seasons. Gaffers at various clubs have not give him good game time for what reason?

Second choice keeper? Injury? Not good enough?

I don't have a clue for the record

Had a look on the Carlisle forum ahead of the weekend and after seeing someone mentioned their keeper maybe available. But they believe they are in talks to bring Omari Patrick back on loan after a poor run at Burton, as well as thinking they are trying to bring back Zanzala after his move to Barrow hasn't worked.

Wonder if Zanzalas agent will try and use City in the press again to leverage a move for him

So if Wrexham get promoted and go ahead of us next season, we'll actually climb the rankings

    Who couldn't support that?

Knowing City's transfer policy, we'll have been after Charman from Darlo, miss out to Rochdale and then bring Zanzala in from Barrow who was our 'number one' target from the start of the window...

If were serious about going up then Dom Telford at Newport and Jake Beesley should be at the top of our shopping list. I think Beesley would be ideal and with Rochdales financial situation being what it is then I think we should be at least enquiring.

Not Telford no! I've got 10 quid on him being the leagues top scorer at 15/1. If he comes to us, I might as well rip up my betting slip!

For some reason we often seem to sign players on a Thursday. Wonder if someone will arrive today.

Wrexham fans seem certain that Telford is going there. Not sure if Newport are in trouble or not money wise, but their newspaper said that they are in a 'financial cloud' this January, assuming a few players might be available? Ed Upson who only signed in June and has been playing regularly has signed for Stevenage, they also terminated a contract today and Padraig Amond is out on loan at Exeter, sounds like Newport are pushing them to make the deal permanent.

According to Alan Nixon, Blackpool are considering Beesley, if that's the case we can rule ourselves out of that one.

Neither have I. Just going from memory which is dodgy at the best of times.

If I was Blackpool I'd take a chance with him. You can spot the decent players a mile off, they might not have a motm performance when they play against us but you can see that they have the basic skilset that can see the play at a higher level. Mendes Gomez was like that for Morecambe, his first touch and awareness of those around him was far better than league 2.

Notts paper saying Tshimanga is getting championship interest from a number of clubs, with Chesterfield about to finalise a move for striker Harry Cardwell from Chorley. Should have gone for Tshimanga when we had the chance.

They also had a bid rejected for winger/attacking midfielder Cal Roberts from Notts Co. Think Roberts has been mentioned a few times in windows on this forum over the last 12/18 months.

If we operated like a big club we would be throwing our weight around and taking advantage of Newport's supposed financial difficulties with a bid for the league's top scorer. He's a proper poacher type and looks like he would complement what we have.

A good striker will most likely be the difference between a mid table finish and a promotion charge. Now is not the time to be stingy.

Did we ever have a chance for him though? I think at the time we were at the arse end of the league so there's no guarantee he'd come or continue where he'd left off. The proven striker in Cook was the less risky option and I'd assume Cooks wages took a large chunk of the budget. Had we been in our current position then it would have been a no brainer for the club, but still no guarantee the player would want to come. We need to get winning again and look as if we're heading in the right direction to attract quality players or up and coming NL strikers in my opinion.

Not much money in the Championship at the moment really. Clubs will be being very cautious. Bournemouth are spending 1mill on a defender from Fleetwood. Tshimanga wont be costing much if he does move. They are cheap and risk free signings. Will be a window of cheap deals and loans imo.

Tshimanga will be half a million at least as he's under contract for ay least another season and Chesterfield need his goals. Everyone is after that magical goal scorer no matter what level and Tshimanga is no exception. I think Chesterfield will keep hold.

Like when people on here used to clamour for Colin Doyle (most clean sheets in the league the season before) to be replaced by Sattlemeir just because he once saved a Charlie Adams shot from 50+ yards out

First time we were linked to him, online and a write up by Nixon in the paper was Jan 2020. That weird period where everyone knew Doyle was on his way back to Swindon after his recall and we were waiting for Vaughan to leave too. Instead we got Novak and Guthrie.

Novak was never really fit enough to show what he was about but the less said about Guthrie, the better. At the time, Tshimanga had 19 goals in the NL, where as Guthrie couldn't hit a barn door at Stevenage and Novak had 5 in 19 at Scunny as well as missing 6 weeks injured, and came to us injured. I know hindsight is a beautiful thing but even on paper at the time, one option looked far better than the two we got.

Myself and others mentioned Tshimanga 18 months ago 2 summers ago, we could have even gone in for him in January.
Nobody can tell me Rowe, Crankshaw and Vernam combined cost much less than getting him from Borehamwood. Another example of our quantity over quality inept approach. We could be sat on a £500k+ player now and higher up the league.
